Meet Keicon Cherry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keicon Cherry. They and their team shared their story with us below:

A Virginia-raised Los Angeles-based contemporary Gospel singer who bares such influences as Mali Music, and Jordan Armstrong, Keicon released his debut single Awesome God in 2014. Accepting Christ Jesus at the age of seven, Keicon grew up surrounded by music and the church. As an undergraduate college student, he sang with the Virginia State University Gospel Chorale. Upon earning his bachelor’s degree, Keicon released “I am Chew the mixtape in 2015”. While Pursing his Masters’s degree in film production, Keicon was awarded the best new artist for the 2016 Independent Artist Christian Music Association (IACMA) awards. Over the next few years, Keicon worked as a supporting vocalist, on stage as well as in the studio and as a casting producer, all while assembling material for a virtual tour, and EP titled “Friday Night before church live” in 2023.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a talented and passionate gospel artist, I’ve had to overcome numerous obstacles on my journey to success. During my first few months here in LA, I faced financial constraints that hindered my ability to fully explore my artistic potential. Lacking the necessary funds to create visuals and record music, I encountered numerous roadblocks along the way. However, my indomitable spirit and unyielding passion for music allowed me to conquer these challenges.

Instead of allowing adversity to deter me, I used it as fuel to propel myself forward. I took every setback as an opportunity to grow and improve, honing my skills as a singer and songwriter. My resolute determination to succeed in the face of financial limitations has not only shaped my character but also strengthened my relationship with God.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Gospel recording artist. My music resonates with listeners on a deeply personal level as I draw from my own experiences and triumphs over adversity. My lyrics reflect the struggles I’ve faced and the faith that has carried me through the darkest times. My songs are powerful testaments to the unwavering love and grace of God, reminding listeners of the hope and strength found in their own spiritual journeys.

Through my soulful vocals and heartfelt performances, I bring the transformative power of gospel music to life. My music transcends genres and touches the hearts of people from all walks of life. My commitment to my craft shines through every note as I seek to inspire and uplift my audience with my heartfelt lyrics and powerful melodies.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in Favor and that when preparation meets opportunity, anything is possible. Despite the challenges I’ve faced, my perseverance and unwavering faith have propelled me to new heights. I’ve emerged from the shadows, and my music is now reaching an ever-growing audience. With each new release, I continue to push the boundaries of gospel music, infusing it with my unique style and personal experiences.
