Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaleo Jacobs.
Kaleo, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born and raised in Lynn, MA and started making music expressing my life and experiences since I was eighteen. College Graduate, but deeply understand the trials and tribulations that come with the pursuit of success from an impoverished neighborhood. After connecting with artist Wst. Taylor, a South Central LA rapper, and building a bond beyond the music. We traveled to LA and got my music in the hands of some of the best up and coming artist born and raised in the South Central LA area. Artists such as MaccDolo, IdrathergoDutch, BallerRob, BallerMac and many more. I represent a team of individuals with incredible talents, unique styles, and a creative and driven mentality that I believe is unmatched. My producers and artists TheMellos. Other artists born and raised in Lynn such as Nyeusi_Loe, RickyRzns, TeaBone, Trés, Supreme, GrooveGods, combined with the LA talent prove we are a movement to Take notice of.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I come from poverty. No handouts, no rich uncle, no settlement fund, nothing. What I have is everything I have built. I have gotten more “No’s” about my music than I have heard “yes”. I have fallen countless times and failed more times, then succeeded. Self-doubt is a MotherfuXXer, especially when not a lot of people around you aren’t succeeding. Working paycheck to paycheck and never really seeing an end to being a victim of life rather than experiencing it. Confidence and self-knowledge was key to understanding my battles and knowing how I wanted to maneuver through my process.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am an artist. I speak my truth through music. Expression of myself and life through its highest form. I am known for my relatability, Lyricism, wordplay, and melodies. What sets me apart is that no person has lived my life. My experiences will always be personal, but I’m able to relay them in a way where people are not only able to relate but connect with me as an individual through music.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
The holidays. Each holiday in my household almost made you forget about the problems you have in the outside world. So much love is shown you just get wrapped up in the ambiance of things.
