Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaila Dinius.
Kaila, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started waxing my life away in the back room of my mother’s hair salon. After sitting through college classes, not really knowing what I wanted to do with my life, I said, “I love helping people” and I have the perfect set up with her! So, I went to school, worked in the salon, had a baby, got married, and really started to get serious about my new career. It was then time to broaden my horizon, strengthen my knowledge, and leave my Mom’s salon. So, I started working at a reputable Medspa in town. There I learned, listened, treated clients and really became confident in craft. Following the medspa, I decided I wanted more. A plastic surgeon/surgery center in town trusted me and hired me! I was stoked! I worked there over the course of a couple of years and got an opportunity to really learn extensive skincare. I learned about ingredients, the science of skin, and hands on education. I was so grateful to this office because it lead me to my next adventure. I was so excited! I was brought on to manage a high-end celebrity Medspa! There I learned more there than I had ever imagined. I was seeing clients, running the office, and meeting people that I couldn’t even believe! I was able to still see clients, and perfect my craft while learning the nitty gritty “business stuff”. That lasted for three years. After much thought, I decided that it was time to move out on my own. Since then, I have managed to keep my business thriving, and even start my own skincare brand!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No. in my 15 years experience, I worked through a recession, a tragic mudslide, our town burning down, and many other struggles! However, I try not to focus on the bad. I have learned that in every situation there is always a silver lining, and always, always something to be learned.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in individual treatment. I focus on the individuals concerns and issues and treat each client differently! I like to say I don’t offer a “fluffy facial” meaning, I get down to business, and promise they will not miss the hand massage 🙂 I also, rarely ever do the same treatment twice. As a business, I pride myself in knowledge, kindness, honesty, and results. I think what sets me most apart is I under promise and over deliver. And most of all, I want all my clients to feel comfortable, included, and know that every single treatment is more than just a facial. It’s me giving them my attention and expertise to make them feel the best they possibly can about themselves. I want every single person to leave feeling better than when they came.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a late bloomer. My family moved around a lot. I truly think that this was a blessing because it taught me to be adaptable. It taught me confidence and to not be afraid of change. I have two younger siblings, one is seven years younger, and one is 13 years younger. So, I spent a lot of summer days taking care of them while my mom and stepdad worked. Which probably made me the care-taker I am now! I was always interested in people growing up, but I was very shy until High school… I kind of bloomed and came out of my shell. I made the cheerleading squad and then life really started for me.
