Meet Kaci Mallat of Xoxo Weddings in Greater Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaci Mallat.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
About ten years ago, I interned at a company named Hustle and Bustle. After my internship was over, I was hired to be a lead coordinator at that company. I was with Hustle and Bustle for four years before Tanya Boyd and I branched off to form Xoxo Weddings. We have been Xoxo for six years now, and it just keeps getting better. It started with just Tanya and myself, and now we are up to 8 lead coordinators in Los Angeles. Plus, we just launched our Cincinnati branch!!! It was a lot of hard work, and still is a lot of hard work, but I can honestly say that we have built a brand I am extremely proud of!!!!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think owning a business could ever be a smooth road. I believe the people that own small businesses love the work more than any other aspect. If I would sit down and actually figure out how much I make per hour, I probably shouldn’t be doing this. The company goes above and beyond, which gives us a great reputation. However, work NEVER stops!!

At the beginning, just getting all the legal items in order was a challenge because we had no idea how to make it legit! After that was in place, I feel like one of the next big hurdles was charging a price that we deserved. It’s hard to tell a potential client face to face that this is my worth…take it or leave it!

Every day we have the difficult clients that make the road bumpy again. We just have to roll with the punches!!

Xoxo Weddings – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Xoxo Weddings is a wedding coordination company. We plan weddings from start to finish. Some aspects are vendor referrals, making timelines, forming budgets, and designing the decor. Our organization is a huge part of our company since there is more than one lead coordinator. We want to make sure that no matter which coordinator you as a bride or groom get has the same training, and works from the same format!

We are known to be the nice coordinators. We say “please” and “thank you.” We never stop on a wedding day…you won’t see my team sitting 🙂

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Honestly, when I drive home after every wedding I do is my proudest moment! I think of all the amazing things that happened that day, and how I got to help make a life long memory for two people who love each other to the moon and back!!
