Today we’d like to introduce you to K. Johns.
K. Johns, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Man, I literally started this whole thing smokin and plottin wit my homies just wanting to be something. I’ve always been K. Johns and always had the desire to create opportunities for everybody around me but never really had anything that could do it until that moment. I tried football and even got two degrees but music has always been my thing. I feel like my voice is my purpose. The journey has been crazy so far but it’s something I’ve been prepared for since the beginning. I never had intentions on fame always just being heard and I know that comes with a long slow grind but also longevity. The process can be overwhelming and discouraging but the main thing is to never quit no matter the circumstances. Even when I look back at the day I started compared to how far I’ve came I motivate myself to go even further.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a long road and I’m only three years in. Honestly, the biggest struggle is remaining confident and motivated throughout the process. You may see others in a better position and feel like the approach is not working, but we all don’t share the same story. We are individuals for a reason and that’s what sets us apart from one another. I had to overcome the challenge of the lack of support from my peers and family. Not everyone will believe in your dream as much as you do but that should never slow down the process.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m currently focused on content and quality. I do everything on my own so I sometimes get caught up between the music, business and clothing. I recently dropped my second project and I am currently working on two more at the same time. I have a lot of unreleased music and video concepts in the works. I am in the process of building an all star team that can produce sounds and visuals that no one else can. I’m in the process of building a following and network so thorough that my first show will bring the entire LA out.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel like the key characteristic to being successful is consistency. My motto is to “keep choppin at the tree” no matter how long it takes it will eventually fall. In other words people will forever accomplish whatever they consistently pursue. Another key quality is a strong mind.
