Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Morgan.
Hi Julian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always had an interest in movies and film, growing up. Something about the idea of telling stories through moving pictures and sounds was really appealing to me. I also can vividly remember growing up in a time where music videos were premier form of entertainment, and fueled by my love for these two things I knew I wanted to create motion pictures. Just love, love me to the Art Institute of California, where I studied video production and took classes on screenwriting however, it wouldn’t be until years later, when the need for content to be created for myself and loved ones spark, my love and ignited a new passion of creating videos as a form of visual content.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I have three children who are my world: an older daughter and a set of twins who keep me very busy for their early formative years. I had to put a lot of my passions on hold in order to be present and a good provider for them, but what I realized to that process was that I was also becoming a good role, model and example of what hard work and determination looks like in a real tangible way. Not just someone that they might see on TV or YouTube but an actual real person that they know in love, making it happen every every single day and there’s something special in that.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I pride myself on being the storyteller at the very core of everything I do. I always want to tell the story whether it’s a short 15 second video or three-minute video or even longer I always wanted to have a beginning a middle, and end. A satisfying conclusion I think that’s why I really Stand out amongst other people I want to give quantity and quality. I don’t feel that you have to choose either or so; with that in mind, I always try to give a client what they need with the ever-changing world of social media, algorithms, and different taste constantly shifting, it’s a challenge, but being driven by my desire to tell a story, I always have a roadmap to find success. I’m most proud of being comfortable enough to just be myself and not try to conform to any particular rules or categories that others might set in place for what a contact maker, director, or filmmaker should be.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The COVID-19 crisis was actually really a good time for me to detach from the daily grind and spend valuable time building oneself. It was during that time that I picked my camera back up, started to write again, and began to learn things and develop new skills. I think if anything, we all found new ways to live, and although it was challenging, being away from loved ones, friends and family, that also gave us a lot of time to love and care for ourselves.
