Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Perdomo.
Jon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started a plant Instagram simply to track the growth of our houseplants. At the same time, I was trying to find a way my girlfriend, Jerrilyn aka Plant Lady P (@therealplantladyp) and I could have a source of income together. During this time, I was brainstorming ways but Plant Man P was right in front of our eyes and we didn’t realize it until one day it all clicked and I knew this is what was for us.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been smooth because we are 100% in control and you get what you put in and we give this our all. Anything built off of love and true passion will go further than you can imagine because people can see what it’s truly built off of. As we continue to put our energy out into the world, we continue to attract like-minded people to want to be a part of and assist us in our journey.
Please tell us about Plant Man P.
Plant Man P is predominantly a clothing line. Our mission with our gear is not only to bridge the gap between streetwear and houseplants but to also create a sense of community. When you’re out and you see someone wearing our gear, we want you to feel as if they are extended family and you already know them simply because they are wearing our stuff.
We also have a YouTube in which is relatable to anyone who is interested in houseplants. On there, we go a little bit more in depth, not only with our life but we also share houseplant care tips, plant shopping videos, and difficult parts of being a plant parent as well.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One memory relative to this would be growing up, we always had cacti and euphorbia’s outside and I would always see my dad out there doing something whether it was cleaning them off, watering them, etc. and I always thought, “why is he always out here with these plants” until I began to create a cacti collection of my own and now I understand it 100%
