Meet Jaycee Gossett of Venice CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaycee Gossett

Hi Jaycee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello! I grew up in a small town in New Jersey and now call Venice, California home. From a young age, dance was my first love, and it sparked a lifelong curiosity about the transformative power of movement, ritual, and spirituality. Movement has always been my medicine—my way of feeling connected, a lifeline that provided expression and clarity amidst life’s complexities.

This passion led me to explore a variety of dance styles, yoga, fitness, and healing movement modalities. My desire to understand the emotional and cultural significance of movement took me around the world, where I studied practices in Brazil, Cuba, India, Africa, England, and Southeast Asia.

Throughout different chapters of my life, I’ve worked in nightclubs, as a commercial fit model, and in television and film, including hosting and producing for The Travel Channel, Z Living TV, and Amazon Prime. These experiences have given me a profound appreciation for how movement intertwines with traditions, emotions, and stories.

In 2013, I took The Class and in 2014 joined the teaching team. Working closely with founder Taryn Toomey, I contributed to shaping The Class’s teacher training programs, operational systems, digital platform, and transformative retreats. I’ve had the privilege of supporting its growth as a global mind-body exercise method, known for its powerful blend of music, breathwork, and somatic movement.

When I’m not in the studio, I’m likely outdoors with my labradoodle, Chili, or searching for hidden coffee gems wherever I travel. As a firm believer in movement as medicine, I am always looking for innovative ways to bring its healing power to people worldwide, continually evolving what we offer into a soulful, challenging, and liberating ritual for modern well-being.

The experiences I share weave together my background in competitive ballroom dance, world movement studies, and ancient wellness practices.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would describe it as a medium-strength “emery board” of sorts—there have been moments of extreme heart-expansion and deep heartbreak, just like any human. The true challenge lies in where we find our strength. Like most people, it’s been a journey to cultivate a life of purpose, stability and meaning.

A few quotes from Resmaa Menakem really capture this process for me: “The body is where trauma lives, and the body is also where healing begins.” and “You don’t have to fix yourself, you just have to heal.” His words resonate deeply with me, as they reflect how life’s struggles, especially trauma, can leave lasting imprints on our bodies. Healing, therefore, must also occur through the body.

Our challenges don’t define our worth. The healing process isn’t about “fixing” ourselves, but about learning to move through and grow from our struggles. To heal, evolve, and grow, we must face the pain head-on, rather than avoid it. Experiencing life’s difficulties is the key to transformation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I believe in the transformative power of movement as medicine, and constantly exploring new ways to share its healing potential with people around the world. The experiences I create are a fusion of my background in competitive ballroom dance, global movement studies, clairvoyance, yoga, and other time-honored wellness practices. I am proud of what we offer at The Class and how it has supported individuals around the world on their life journeys. The transformative power of The Class has provided people with not only a physical outlet, but also a space for emotional release and personal growth. Seeing how it has helped others reconnect with themselves, heal, and evolve is a testament to the incredible impact movement can have. It’s an honor to witness how The Class continues to be a catalyst for change, healing, and empowerment for so many.

What are your plans for the future?
Slow and steady – my goals for the future are to continue sharing the power of movement with people around the world while deepening my own authenticity. Every day, I aim to become more real, grounded, and free, embracing the journey and allowing myself the space to evolve. With each step forward, I hope to inspire others to connect with their own inner strength, finding liberation and healing through movement. Ultimately, my mission is to create a ripple effect, encouraging a global community to experience the profound freedom that comes from living in alignment with who we truly are. At The Class, we will continue to expand and nurture our global digital community, reaching individuals in over 70 countries through our digital streams. With studios in Tribeca, NYC, and Santa Monica, CA, along with events and retreats held around the world, we are creating a worldwide movement. I am incredibly excited to continue on this journey, connecting with more people and sharing the power of movement in new and meaningful ways.
