Meet Jasmine Lewis of iNDi Trailers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Lewis.

Jasmine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been editing for about 15 years, and I got my start doing a little bit of everything. Commercials, social content, talking heads, you name it. But the thing I kept coming back to was trailer work. There’s something about taking a filmmaker’s story and compressing it into 60 seconds that just clicked for me. I loved the challenge of it. Over time I got sharper at it, built a reputation for it, and eventually realized that was the lane I wanted to stay in. So I built a company around it.

iNDi Trailers started as something my family and I built together. My mom, my brother, and I are all editors, so it made sense to combine what we were already doing and direct it toward the filmmakers who needed it most, the independent ones. The ones who have poured everything into their film and just need someone to help the world see it the way they do. That’s what we do. We’re boutique, intentional, and we take every project seriously regardless of the budget. We’re still growing, and honestly that’s the part I love the most.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, not at all. I actually started iNDi Trailers in 2020 during COVID. It had some success but I had to stop because I couldn’t juggle two jobs at the same time and I’m sure a lot of people can relate to that. I picked it back up after getting laid off from a job I had held for four years and that was the moment I decided to put everything I had into it. I am learning to be okay with the journey. The road hasn’t been smooth and I don’t expect it to just get easier, but every challenge I get over teaches me something and makes me better. That’s what keeps me going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about iNDi Trailers?
iNDi Trailers is a boutique trailer house built specifically for independent filmmakers. We specialize in cinematic trailers, teasers, character teasers, sizzle reels, and film art. Everything we produce is designed to give a film a real first impression, the kind that gets it into festivals, in front of distributors, and noticed online. We are a Black-owned, female-led company and what makes us different is that this is personal. My mom, my brother, and I are all editors. We built this together and we take every project seriously regardless of the budget or the size of the film.

What I am most proud of is that we have stayed intentional. We do not try to be everything to everyone. We have five kit tiers that give filmmakers options at every stage of their project, from a $499 starter trailer to a full festival rollout. We also offer individual services like posters, social cut-downs, and BTS reels for filmmakers who are not ready for a full kit. Every first-time client gets 20% off. We add festival laurels and award wins to every deliverable so your recognition travels with your film. We are still growing and building but the standard has always been the same, treat every indie film like it deserves to be seen by the world. Because it does.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I’ll say the same things everyone else says because honestly it’s true, stay consistent, always keep learning, and have good intentions. Those three things sound simple but most people quit before they ever get a chance to see them work. Consistency is the hardest one. There are days where nothing is moving and it feels pointless but you have to keep going anyway. And the good intentions part matters more than people think. Do right by your clients, do right by your craft, and it comes back to you. That’s been my experience.
