Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmeen Rojo.
Hi Jasmeen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Honestly I was singing since I was little like literally 4 years old, so as I got older I just loved everything music wise. Around 2019, I would like dabble into making my own music whether it was on my phone or just people I knew who would be in the studio. Then I started getting invited to people studio sessions and I realized I was way more interested in the business side of things. Hearing artist stories, how THEY started really inspired me and intrigued me. Then I got into a very toxic situation and after that breakup I really discovered like what jazz loves (ME) and that’s how I started MEEN. My first name is Jasmeen so it’s the last four of my name so I really feel like it’s my baby and it’s apart of me. Now I do in person interviews as well as write ups which I actually collab with Ethika so shoutout to them that was actually very cool for us to partner together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have been very blessed to say yes it has been a smooth road. Obviously there’s like little annoying things here and there but that’s just life lol but overall smooth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about MEEN magazine?
So MEEN Magazine is the magazine I created to give a platform to artists who want to express themselves truly. I do write ups for artists who want to just talk about what they are dropping kind of like apart of their rollout or just simply getting to know them on a deeper level. The in person interviews I do are basically same concept but just in person and the collab with Ethika offers them a tour of the headquarters plus a care package and good networking. I think what sets me apart is my dedication and passion for it , I really do take pride in it because I mean the name of my brand is my name lol. I want to curate something for the artist where they feel it’s a platform of appreciation.
Any big plans?
Whew. So overall I want MEEN to be a whole entity. I want to do more than just a magazine, open my own studios, start a label , etc, Just all around music and MEEN be the whole brand. I know soon I will be starting a show , podcast vibe and it’s going to be more personal like MEEN behind the scenes just for viewers to get know me or even the artists on a more fun not so editorial level.
