Meet Isabel Galey of Boulder, CO

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Galey.

Hi Isabel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Bubba’s Big Adventure when I was 13, after adopting my dog Bubba, a Great Pyrenees rescue who quickly became a huge part of my life. What began as just sharing funny moments and memories with him slowly grew into something much bigger than I ever expected.

Now, at 17, I’ve been running the account for about four years and have built a community of over 200,000 followers and millions of views. Along the way, I’ve had to learn everything as I go, content creation, editing, storytelling, and working with brands while also balancing high school and everyday life as a teenager.

Growing up with a public account has also come with challenges, including navigating the realities of being online at a young age and learning how to set boundaries and protect my privacy after being stalked, harassed and threatened through sexual comments from older adults. Those experiences have shaped how I approach content today and made me more intentional about what I share.

At the core of it, though, it’s always been about Bubba and the bond we have. He’s the reason the account exists, and sharing our life together is what continues to drive everything I create.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges has been growing up with a public account. I started when I was 13, so I was still figuring out who I was while also having a growing audience watching everything I posted. That comes with pressure to constantly create, stay relevant, and “perform” online even when real life is overwhelming.

There have also been periods of burnout, especially when content started feeling less like something fun and more like something I had to keep up with. Balancing school, life, and social media has been hard at times, and I’ve had to learn when to step back and reset instead of forcing content.

Another difficult part has been dealing with the realities of being online at a young age, including receiving inappropriate or uncomfortable messages and learning how to set boundaries and protect my privacy. That part was something I had to grow into quickly, and it definitely changed how I approach being a creator.

Even with all of that, it’s been worth it because it’s taught me a lot about responsibility, resilience, and what I want this platform to represent.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is centered around creating content for Bubba’s Big Adventure, a storytelling-based social media account featuring my Great Pyrenees, Bubba. I focus on short-form video content that blends humor, personality-driven moments, and more emotional storytelling about life with a rescue dog. Over time, the account has grown into a community of over 200,000 followers and millions of views.

I specialize in making relatable, personality-driven dog content that feels more like storytelling than just “pet videos.” A lot of my videos are built around Bubba’s reactions, quirks, and daily life, but I also like to experiment with trends, voiceovers, and concepts that make people feel something—whether that’s laughter or connection.

What I’m most proud of is building something from scratch at a young age and growing it into a platform that people genuinely enjoy and engage with. I’ve also been able to work with pet brands and turn something that started as just posting about my dog into real creative opportunities.

What sets me apart is the combination of consistency, storytelling, and the fact that I’ve grown alongside the account since I was 13. It’s not just a “pet page” to me, it reflects years of learning, experimenting, and building a real connection between Bubba and the audience in a way that feels authentic rather than overly polished or scripted.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Honestly, I don’t rely heavily on specific books or structured resources for content creation. A lot of what has shaped my approach comes from something more organic, being chronically online in the way most teens are and paying attention to patterns in what performs well.

Over time, I started noticing what kinds of videos people actually stop and watch, what trends tend to take off, and what feels overdone versus what still feels fresh. That kind of constant exposure has basically become my informal “research,” and I’ve learned to turn that into ideas for Bubba’s content.

So instead of following a set system or resource, my process is more observational. I learn by watching what’s happening online in real time and adapting it into something that fits Bubba’s personality and our style of content.
