Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Mazile.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I pretty much grew up in the entertainment industry. Everyone from my uncles to family-friends have helped shape me into the entertainer I am today. I did my first house party when I was 12 and it’s ironically the same house that Irv Gotti did his first party in (My grandparent’s house). I went from house parties in the hood to high-end mansion parties in the hills. In 2017, I drove from Queens, New York to Los Angeles, California to further my career.
Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think it’s ever a smooth road on any journey. There’s always gonna be problems on the journey, but once you accept that, you’ll be able to conquer those problems more smoothly. Some current obstacles I’m facing right now is intense negotiations with lawyers from a major corporation in regards to my stage name and having to put a halt on all other projects and events I had in the works because of The Rona.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Astrokid – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
So I’m a MC, Host and DJ. A lot of people would say there’s no difference between them all, but I categorize each of them very differently.
When I MC, I’m usually at a formal, private event. I think of the MC (Master of Ceremony) as the composer of an event. Your sheet music is the itinerary and you’re in charge of making sure all the music is played right, all while throwing your own style in it to keep everyone entertained.
Hosting is more public events. Now there are different fields of hosting but the types I like to focus on are the live interactainment types. These types of events are mostly scripted but you can add your own style and flavor to the script and make it your own. I’ve hosted game shows on cruise-ships and recently was a finalist at the LA Clippers in-arena host auditions.
DJing is more of an artsy craft that can including MCing/Hosting, but when I do it, I focus more on the music. I’m really big on energy and do my best to match the music I play, to the energy of the environment I’m in.
The thing that sets me apart from all others that do this type of work is my style and energy! You give me a little, I’ll make it a lot. You make it warm, I’ll make it hot.
I’m proud of all that I’ve accomplished so far but I wouldn’t say I’m most proud of anything yet. Anytime a goal is accomplished, I make an even higher goal so I don’t get too comfortable where I am.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
When I first came to LA, it was like a whole other planet. The people, the music, the food and culture are all so very different from New York. I never heard of DJ Quik or SugarFree until I moved out here. In New York, you don’t smile or greet someone unless you know them, but out here it’s a normal thing which still bugs me out. The food is so diverse out here which makes being a vegetarian less challenging with 100s of options for food choices. The only thing I don’t like is downtown LA because it reminds me too much of New York.
