Today we’d like to introduce you to IRAH BUNTING.
Hi IRAH, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Like most music stories, mine starts as an artist myself. I’ve been writing ever since a child but didn’t perform my first show until 2014 when I was 22 years old. Within the next five years, I had gotten a plethora of live performances under my belt. Doing shows was the best part for me. Throughout my experiences performing with different organizations I noticed there was always a lacking of fair compensation, show curation, or crowd incentive. Also, genre specific shows seemed to limit crowd potential. That, combined with people leaving as soon as their friend finishes performing, created a less than underwhelming experience every time. This was a big let down and weak look for the more serious artists in attendance. I wanted to create something better. I wanted to create something new. So in 2019 I founded The Homegrown Capitol Tours. I searched for and auditioned the best artists and bands around for the opening show. I mixed genres in an atmosphere where the expectations of the line up bypassed the desire for segregation. As a result, I created more of an experience than a show. Ultimately all parties involved experienced growth and exposure. No complaints on compensation and the crowd had a reason to stay. The following pandemic brought physical operations to a halt. Slowly THCT has transformed into an online hub to discover new curated music from serious up and coming artist of tomorrow. After relocating THCT will be heading back in that direction.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Besides the pandemic, some of my business associates just didn’t have their vision aligned with mine. This caused splits in the original foundation turning THCT into a temporarily solo operation. Aside from that, the only other challenges were putting together top tier acts and time framing. Securing venues, Dj’s, and promtion were all a breeze.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As an artist, I specialize in knowing the struggles that they go through in their independent careers. I combined everything an artist and their perspective fans would expect out of an event such as mine and removed all of the negative aspects as simply as that. I also provide an extensive ear and easy opportunity for future collaborations, growth, and review. There is absolutely no bias withing my organization and genuine discovery from every angle.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
All music review threads have hidden gems. If they don’t come to me I’ll find them.
