Today we’d like to introduce you to Ilah Brock Renzi.
Hi Ilah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started with Hypnotherapy by seeing one. I was in law school and I had a full time job as a property manager in West Los Angeles. I was so in ‘awe’ of what my results were in hypnotherapy that I needed to learn more. Upon the recommendation of my hypnotherapist, I went on a tour of the school he attended in Tarzana (Hypnosis Motivation Institute – aka, HMI) and from the first step in the door, I felt at home. I signed up for their next set of classes, that day, which class started the next evening, called the law school, withdrew immediately, and I have never looked back. I found my calling. So for the next couple of years I did struggle, juggling Hypnotherapy school, working on my masters in Psychology and working fulltime. I finally, just decided to pull the trigger and go for it. Quit my job, continued to pursue my dream career, the school even hired me for a couple of years. It was a challenge because I didn’t have a steady source of income and there were some lean lean times ahead of me. I continued to live in the San Fernando Valley for about a year and a half and then, while still keeping my office open, I moved to a cute town to the north, Tehachapi – it was a 2 1/2 hour drive each way so I would tend to stay in town with friends while seeing clients a few days a week. Then the pandemic hit and it really took its tole on my, already, struggling practice. I met a wonderful man towards the end of 2020 and closed my office in Woodland Hills, was no longer worth me staying there paying for something I did not use. I moved to where I am now, Visalia, CA (about 3 1/2 hours north of Los Angeles) – Didn’t know what I was going to do so I took a few more months while pandemic was still in full swing and at the beginning of 2021 I decided to go ahead and restart my business in this adorable little town, called Visalia. Visalia is about an hour south of Fresno or 1 1/2 hours north of Bakersfield. I wasn’t sure if this town was ready for a Hypnotherapist and I put all I had into getting started. Every ounce of my savings – and low and behold – It started slow but after a few months it started to grow and here I am pushing 5 years in and I am the premier hypnotherapist in the the central valley of California. I love what I get to do. I help people achieve their very best. Being in a private Hypnotherapy practice for almost 5 straight years, 2nd best thing I ever did – Best thing? Meet the man of my dreams. Although it was short (he passed away 2 months ago) I want to carry on like he would if the tables were turned. Get up every day and face the world and help people. That’s my calling and I have learned a way that works for me and works for those I get to serve.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth? oh no – Struggles – yes, financial had been the biggest part of my struggles. Going through a divorce, giving up a lucrative job (property management ), being in school, moving a bunch of times until I settled in Visalia, CA and had to learn how to be “head of household” – truly for the first time in my life. I have and am still learning about being on my own. Of course I am doing better and I have learned a great deal and I have mentored others who were in the same circumstances. Teaching is a passion of mine.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Central Valley Hypnotherapy?
Basically, I help people change the patterns that hold them back and create new, empowered ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving. As a Certified Hypnotherapist, I specialize in vocational and avocational self-improvement—helping individuals quit unwanted habits, reduce stress and anxiety, increase motivation, manage weight, improve sleep, enhance confidence, and build emotional resilience (and emotional maturity).
What makes my work unique is that every session is fully customized. I don’t use generic scripts or cookie-cutter methods. Instead, I combine clinical hypnotherapy with modalities like NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Timeline Therapy, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), and IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy) to create deeply personal sessions designed to help each client access the power of their own subconscious mind. My approach is practical, compassionate, and results-driven. Clients often say, “It feels like you help me talk to the part of myself I couldn’t reach before.”
I’m known for making change work feel achievable. I teach clients how their minds work, not just how to “relax.” They learn real tools they can use in daily life—mental strategies that rewire thought patterns, strengthen emotional balance, and rebuild self-trust. Whether someone comes in to quit smoking, manage anger, stop procrastinating, or simply rediscover peace of mind, my goal is to help them feel in charge of their inner world again.
What sets Central Valley Hypnotherapy apart is the blend of science, empathy, and artistry behind every session. I see hypnotherapy as both a profession and a calling—it’s about guiding the subconscious to rewrite old stories into new realities. The process is gentle, yet incredibly transformative.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Central Valley Hypnotherapy is becoming a hub for change and community learning. Beyond one-on-one sessions, I offer workshops, classes, and speaking events on self-hypnosis, overcoming habits, and using the mind’s language to create lasting results. I love watching people experience that “aha” moment when they realize they hold the power to shift everything from within.
If there’s one thing I’d want others to know about my brand, it’s this: Hypnotherapy isn’t about giving up control—it’s about taking it back. It’s about aligning the conscious mind with the subconscious so that every part of you is working toward the same goal. My mission is simple: to help people become the most authentic, peaceful, and purpose-driven version of themselves possible.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Authenticity, compassion, honesty, being straight forward and tough love. I am / try to be as genuine as possible. I do, easily focus on what my clients wish to accomplish.
