Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Flores.
Gloria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After surviving cancer, I decided to attend massage school to follow my passion for helping others on their healing path. That’s where I first heard about Craniosacral Therapy. I began taking classes through the Upledger Institute and soon realized that this modality offered me a unique opportunity to help people on a very deep level since it offered clients mind, body, and spirit healing. I became certified as a Craniosacral Therapist through the Upledger Institute and began teaching this powerful, easy-to-learn modality to professional body workers, parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. I have taught Craniosacral Therapy at local massage schools, holistic healing centers, spas, and at Glendale Community College. My articles on the benefits of Craniosacral Therapy have been published in numerous alternative health publications.
I spent seven years as a volunteer Craniosacral Therapist at the Wellness Works community clinic in Glendale, California where I used Craniosacral Therapy to support people with cancer, HIV, orthopedic problems, and military veterans with PTSD.
Today I am the owner/operator of Burbank Craniosacral Therapy where in addition to presenting Craniosacral Therapy workshops, I use Craniosacral Therapy to help people with chronic pain syndromes, neck & back problems, depression, anxiety, migraine headaches, and much more.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I started my business the most challenging thing about building my clientele was the fact that many people, including medical professionals, were not familiar with Craniosacral Therapy and how it could help them. Gradually, over the years, people have become more familiar with the modality, either because it was recommended to them, or they did online searches for help with their symptoms and found Craniosacral Therapy as a recommended form of treatment.
Craniosacral Therapy was developed by Dr. John E. Upledger, an osteopathic physician. From 1975 to 1983 Dr. Upledger was a professor of biomechanics at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University. While there, he led a team of anatomists, physiologists, biophysicists and bioengineers who performed and published the clinical research that formed the basis for the approach he named CranioSacral Therapy.-
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Burbank Craniosacral Therapy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in Craniosacral Therapy and most people seek my services because they have tried many other sources for the relief of their symptoms with little or no results. Most of my clients recommend me to their friends and family who are suffering from chronic pain from car accidents, physical and/or emotional trauma, neck and back problems, and migraines. I am most proud of the reputation I have built with my clients and in the community. Many times new clients tell me that their doctor, acupuncturist, herbalist, or massage therapist recommended my services to them.
What sets me apart from other Craniosacral Therapists is that because of my passion for this modality I have studied it extensively with several schools, including the Upledger Institute, the Milne Institute, Life Energy Institute and the Lifeshapes Institute. This has given me an understanding of the variety of ways that Craniosacral Therapy can be practiced.
