Meet Giselle Estrada

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giselle Estrada.

Hi Giselle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Gigilumakeup was created back in 2013. I was a 15 year old girl in high school with a passion for makeup. Starting off wasn’t simple, but with the help of some dollar-store makeup and eyelashes, my creativity started to flow. Fast forward to today, 10 years later, I am still that passionate little girl with big dreams. I am excited to share that I am now a Certified Makeup Artist and I am ready to accomplish the next goal.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The thing I love about makeup is that there are no boundaries, no rules, and no expectations. Now in a more technical world, where social media runs basically everything, it can be a little difficult to fit in. We are flooded with influencers as soon as we open the apps and an image we have to live up to. I can say now, that I am confident in my artistry and I’m content with the genuine followers that I have. Numbers, likes, and comments don’t determine your hard work, only you can decide.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Being a makeup artist for the past 10 years has been bittersweet. Being able to transform a client, a bride, a quincenera into their dream look is what keeps me going. Over the years, I have specialized in special event makeup, but recently have been getting into face paint and special effects. As opposed to other artists, I want to go above and beyond makeup. There is a dream behind gigilumakeup and I can’t wait to share more details soon.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The ability to never give up. It sounds cheesy, but it’s true. If I would have given up after that one difficult client, if I would have given up after that one hate comment, if I would have given up after that one bad makeup day… I would NOT be where I am today. These obstacles give us the motivation and strength to keep going. One bad day does not determine your future forever.
