Meet Evan Rogers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Rogers.

Evan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started filmmaking at ten years old. I knew that if I wanted to have a serious career in the industry, I had to start shooting and editing seriously every day. From that day on, I have been apart of some sort of project every day for 12 years. There has always been this deep longing within me to capture everything that I see because I find the world to be so fascinating. I picked up my first editing internship at 16 which not even a year later turned into a part-time position managing an entire local broadcast show in post-production. This was enlightening for me as it showed me the world that was before me. However, nothing was more enlightening for me than my abroad trip to Italy in 2017. On that trip was when I discovered the purpose behind the visuals I was making: stories. I have always loved to listen to stories, but while traveling through Florence, Venice, and Rome I learned how to truly tell them. While taking in all the art around me by the masters, I realized I had a lot to learn. From there, I started to be intentional about the stories I told because I felt a great responsibility to. This unlocked a brand new career quest for me.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have had my fair share of challenges on my path between simply just growing up and maturing along with my creative eye evolving. I would say the biggest challenge I’ve bucked up again is representing myself well and being bold to approach those I want to work with. Even though I always end up making it happen for myself, I will admit it always takes a jump start for me internally. My parents were both very arts-minded with my mom being an art major and my dad being a re-recording mixer in the industry. However, a mainstay of my dad’s was that I needed to pave my own path and not rely on connections he had made, but rather, go after my own. This challenged me and continues to challenge me.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I started Evan Rogers Film about five years ago. Since I have had editing jobs as my main source of income, it has really been my outlet to do the projects I love. In 2017, I made my second short film “Trapped” which was about my battle with anxiety. I think for me, this film is truly what set me free to create freely all of the time. I realized quickly that if I could turn a quality project and have it spread a positive message of hope like Trapped ultimately had, then I would be helping those around me see the good in this world.

I then had the idea to form a film collective out of Evan Rogers Film to multiply these opportunities. After countless projects and years spent together, my team has matured into a versatile unit of directors, producers, editors, colorists, and many others for hire. Today, we work with brands and individuals to execute their vision at the highest caliber of quality. From producing corporate video to podcasts to music videos and everything in between, my team has done it all. We don’t limit ourselves and thus won’t limit our clients from capitalizing on the best product possible.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Realizing that I can monetize the projects I dream about. It is incredibly rewarding to put my mind to a product and commit all that I have to it to make others believe in it, and by so doing, allow them to add to its value and share in its rewards.
