Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Van Gogh.
Hi Eric, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been a dreamer. Always wanted to live beyond life and push the boundaries past limits. Whatever I did, I wanted to make sure that I left with an impact or with more knowledge than before. Whatever I did and everything I did, I delivered 110%. With that being said, I’m a man of many lives. An aspiring actor, a content creator, a live-streamer, an entrepreneur, a music manager, and co-owner of The Athletes Plug. I’m a man with many eggs in many baskets, and the reason is because if one breaks, you’re sure to have others. And there’s a saying, “Never have a plan B. If you have a plan B, you are giving yourself the chance to never accomplish plan A.” But realistically, we’re in a world where life can be unfair, so why have the chance to lose it all when you have the chance to succeed in multiple fields. The best lesson in life is to leave the room if you’re the smartest person because there’s always room to learn more. The greatest way to learn more and keep learning is to be in multiple fields. With all of that being said, hi, I’m Eric Van Gogh and I want to do it for those who can’t. I want to be the inspiration for all aspirations, and I want to let anyone and everyone know that if I can do it, you can do it. So don’t give up and keep going. Life is short, so live beyond life. Do what makes you happy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with most people’s lives, life is honestly a crazy rollercoaster with many unexpected turns. And those turns all started in 1996 in a small town in Pittsburgh, PA.
Growing up with a 16-year-old mother who then recently left an abusive relationship was one of the hardest times but also the biggest blessings ever. The reason for that was because we were fortunate enough to have come across my stepfather, an 18-year-old man who stepped up to the plate that a little guy couldn’t handle.
And I couldn’t have asked for it to go any better. I can’t lie, we had TOUGH times where we struggled, but I had even more times where my amazing parents did their absolute best to give me everything that I needed. The craziest part about them being such young parents was that we all got to grow up together. All of the mistakes they have made, we were all able to live it together and correct it together.
So yes, did I have struggles along the way? More than you can even imagine. But did I also have the greatest support system? You better believe it. I had the greatest and most supportive parents that I could have asked for.
At the end of the day, I want you to remember this: life isn’t about being grateful for a glass being half empty or half full; life is about being grateful to even have a glass.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I feel like I’m Shaquille O’Neal. A man who does it all with a bunch of sidequests
Like I’ve stated before, I’m an aspiring actor who worked on multiple projects such as This Is Us, Venom 2, Matrix 4, 13 Reasons Why, and so much more. The reason why I continue to say “aspiring” is because I’ve mainly only worked as a background actor, so I don’t really consider myself an actor. Don’t get me wrong, we all play an important role, but not THE important role, so that’s my goal, but it’s hard right now with all of the strikes and pauses on projects.
I was also a content creator under Juju Smith Schuster’s gaming organization for about two years before I took a step aside to do my own thing. But what that entailed was being under contract as a YouTuber, a livestreamer, and essentially a face representing him, his team, and his brand.
I am now a shorts editor for my idol, my best friend, and YouTuber KayKayEs. In a span of 4 months of editing for him, we’ve gained over 4 million views on his shorts across YouTube and TikTok. I guess, I’m doing pretty well as an editor, I must say.
On top of that, I currently manage a music genius/artist known as Yaboi Nilo, we recently got him to perform at his first three concerts, one of which was to open up for hip-hop artist Casey Veggies in June of 2023. Oh, and don’t forget to stream “Sincerely Yours” by Yaboi Nilo on all platforms!
Last but not least, I also own and run an NFL social media page where I help spread the latest NFL news, rumors, transactions, and most importantly, player brand positivity on AND off the field. In a span of four months, we’ve gained over 1000 followers and 2 million impressions with many player interactions.
All in all, life has been truly a blessing with many opportunities.
How do you think about luck?
The greatest role of luck in my life has been my support system. That goes from my friends, my family, my followers, to my girlfriend, and most importantly, to my brother, Eli (KayKayEs).
He is the epitome of “if you believe it, you can achieve it.” Eli is not just one of the hardest workers I know but an even better mentor and guide through it all.
If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have had the courage to become an actor, to even pursue becoming a part of Juju Smith Schuster’s team, and realistically, I wouldn’t have the mindset or the courage to have stepped out of my comfort zone to do what I’ve always loved and admired.
When I was down in my darkest days, he made me realize that there would always be light on the other side.
And I know he’s not going to believe it, but that legend is literally the biggest luck and blessing in my life. He is truly the greatest big brother and mentor that ANYONE in the WHOLE WORLD could have asked for. So shout out to the GOAT, KayKayEs.
