Meet Emma Zander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Zander.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Emma. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in New York around a ton of theatre, and I really got my start doing musicals! I loved that form of story-telling and eventually ended up studying Musical Theatre at NYU Tisch. After graduating, I moved to LA and pretty much fell into writing music. I ended up falling madly in love with songwriting and being a recording artist.

Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t know if there’s ever been a time without obstacles or challenges! I still have a long way to go, but I think the biggest challenge I conquered in this business was getting out of my own way. There’s a lot of “rejection” in the entertainment industry, but it’s really how you handle it that defines who you are.

I began to take things less personally and started to base my worthless on external accomplishments and more on who I am as a human. Obstacles are such a blessing because they are all teachable moments.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Like so many in Los Angeles, I tend to wear several hats in my own career. I am a recording artist who writes my music, produces my own music videos, and conceptualizes my own branding. I am naturally interested in so many facets of the entertainment industry, from fashion to acting to singing that I really want to pursue everything! I believe I can if I work hard enough.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the age of streaming and Instagram, connecting with fans is more personal than ever before. The industry has kind of been turned upside down since the inventions of Spotify & Apple Music, so it’s such a time for creativity and finding new ways to reach people and make an impact.

I have no idea how the industry will continue to adjust, but I do know that making content and putting it out is easier than ever before. I’m excited to see how artists will continue to make waves in more innovative ways.
