Meet Elizabeth Wahler of Elyzian — a blend of my first and my mom’s middle names: Elizabeth and Ann

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Wahler.

Hi Elizabeth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My mom, Valaree, has been collecting important stones since the ’80s. When I was a young child, her private jeweler would come to the house with this magical little bag filled with sparkling treasures. I remember sitting wide-eyed as she opened it — tiny, perfect pieces, one more dazzling than the next. I can still see those vibrant stones catching the light like candy. I’d sit quietly and watch, completely enchanted, falling in love with the stories, the cuts, the colors, and learning about the far-off places they came from. It was in those early years that the passion really took root — and never left.

Jewelry wasn’t just adornment in our home — it was emotional, personal, and full of meaning. My father loved color too. He was very technical, very precise — and after he and my mom selected a stone, they’d often sit together and dream up the design. Some of my favorite memories are of him sketching out a piece for her — usually resulting in something unique and architectural.

Today, those pieces are among my most cherished — not just because they’re beautiful, but because they take me back to a time filled with love, creativity, and connection. Each one was a gift given with love, and they remain part of our story — and now, the heart of Elyzian.

Over time, what began as admiration became a shared family passion — and eventually, a passion project. My mom and I realized we wanted to build something lasting together, something that celebrated color, craftsmanship, and the emotional power of jewelry. That dream became Elyzian.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth? No. Worth it? Absolutely.

Running a fine jewelry business as a small, emerging, independent team means wearing every hat — designer, creative director, operations, customer education, you name it. Sourcing special stones from trusted partners takes time, dedication, and patience. And educating people on the beauty of natural colored gemstones — in a market that’s been trained to prioritize diamonds — brings its own set of challenges.

But those moments are clarifying. They’ve pushed us to double down on our values, get sharper with our storytelling, and become even more intentional in our design process. Every hurdle has made us stronger — more resilient, more connected to our clients, and more rooted in why we started in the first place.

As you know, we’re big fans of The name is Elyzian — a blend of my first and my mom’s middle names: Elizabeth and Ann. It felt like the perfect tribute to our shared creative legacy and the bond we’ve built through this work. It also sounds like what we hope to create — something elevated, timeless, and just a little bit dreamy.. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Elyzian is a fine jewelry brand that celebrates exceptional natural color and intentional design. We specialize in one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces built around vibrant gemstones — tsavorites, spinels, tourmalines, sapphires in every shade you didn’t know existed, and hello, Brazilian Paraiba! Every stone is hand-selected, and every design is crafted to highlight what makes that gem unforgettable.

What sets us apart? First, our eye. We know how to find color that sings. Then, our commitment to making jewelry that feels like you — timeless, expressive, elegant. We don’t mass-produce. We don’t chase trends. We make future heirlooms.

We also offer custom design services. Whether you’re dreaming up an engagement ring, reimagining an heirloom, or looking for something extraordinary to mark a milestone, we work closely with clients to bring their vision to life. And if you’re looking for something truly rare — an investment-worthy stone in the best quality — we really love these projects too.

The thing we’re most proud of? The way people light up when they wear our pieces. There’s this moment — when someone puts on a ring or necklace and just glows — that’s the heartbeat of Elyzian. That’s what we live for.

What are your plans for the future?
Right now, we’re in a beautiful season of refinement and expansion — not in the “grow fast, scale big” sense, but in a way that feels deeply intentional. We’re dreaming up new pieces, sourcing even more extraordinary stones, and continuing to create from a place of joy, love, and artistic curiosity.

One thing we’re really excited about is deepening our storytelling — inviting people further into the world behind each piece. The sourcing, the sketching, the inspiration, the hands that shape the gold. We want to bring people closer to the magic, not just the final sparkle.

We’re also planning more bespoke work — those incredibly personal collaborations where a client comes to us with a story, a feeling, or a family stone, and we help translate it into something they’ll treasure forever. That process is sacred to us, and we want to make even more space for it.

Further down the line, we’d love to create a physical space — a studio or showroom that feels like stepping into a jewel box. Somewhere warm, welcoming, and inspiring, where people can slow down, try things on, and connect with the jewelry in a tactile, personal way.

But above all, we’re focused on staying true to what Elyzian has always been — a celebration of color, beauty, and meaning. We’re not chasing trends or timelines. We’re building slowly, thoughtfully, and with love.

Pricing:

  • Because each piece is unique, we don’t follow rigid pricing tiers — pricing depends on the gemstone, the design, and the materials involved. That said, we offer a range: from elevated everyday staples to one-of-a-kind and investment-grade jewels.
  • We’re fully transparent about what goes into the cost. The price of raw materials — especially gold — has skyrocketed in recent years. A piece that cost $1,400 to make just last year may now cost 40% to 50% more, even before factoring in rising tariffs or shifts in global supply. We work hard to absorb as much of that as we can, and we never retroactively raise prices on existing inventory. If you see an older piece, it’s priced at the materials cost of that time — which often means great value for the client.
  • New pieces reflect the realities of today’s market — limited access to certain stones, increased gold costs, and a highly artisanal process — but we’re committed to pricing everything with integrity and care.
  • Custom design services begin with a complimentary consultation, where we explore your vision, timeline, and budget. Whether you’re designing something sentimental or sourcing a once-in-a-lifetime stone, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
