Meet Élise Osafo of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Élise Osafo.

Hi Élise, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Creativity has been a lifelong habit of mine. It started with music and dance when I was a kid, grew into photography through high school and college, and now it’s content creation, with tons of fun lil detours in between! I’ve always posted on social media; it felt natural and I enjoyed sharing what I created. But 2020 is when my career truly began. I got on TikTok during the pandemic, like everyone else. It took 1 month of posting for me to get my first viral video and that started a sort of domino effect to where I am now. I started with food recreations, added in my avant garde makeup and self portrait photoshoots, and somehow I turned all my curiosities into a community. Around the same time, I began working with BuzzFeed and still pop in videos here and there.

I graduated college in May of 2020, then in June of 2021 I moved from Chicago to California to start at UC Irvine School of Law, while also deciding to go full-time with content (crazy, I know). From 2021 to 2024 I balanced case briefs with brand briefs and early classes with late edits. Juggling law school and content was…a lot, but I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t say, “why not” and make it work.

I graduated law school in May of 2024. I haven’t taken the bar yet (she’s on the to do list…eventually). Right now I’m focused on continuing to grow my brand, saying yes to more exciting opportunities, and enjoying life!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, it’s been relatively smooth! I think that’s mostly because I just truly love creating and naturally default to a glass-half-full perspective, which kept me moving through the inevitable bumps. I’d say the majority of my struggles came from balancing law school and content at the same time; switching from legal analysis to creative flow was mentally draining, and I burned out more than once. What helped was giving myself permission to take real breaks and only create when it felt enjoyable. That helped ease my mind and let me finish school while still growing in my career.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a content creator across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube! I make a mix of photography, videography, lifestyle, music, food, and whatever creative idea comes to my mind. I’d say people know me best for 3 things, self-portrait photography, my cat, Rice (I’m pretty sure he’s more popular than me lol), and my “100 Why Nots” series, which was featured in People Magazine, and captures the spirit of indulging in whimsy and joy! What I’m most proud of is that my platforms are built on being fully and authentically myself. It’s led to so many cool opportunities and has left a positive impact on my audience. What sets me apart is that I never niched down. I’ve grown as a multi-hyphenate creator who can thrive in food, lifestyle, home, photography, makeup, fashion, music, and travel, without losing the through-line of my voice!

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
