Meet Destiny Petrel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Petrel.

Destiny Petrel

Hi Destiny, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Growing up in Long Island, NY, Italian & Lebanese born, I’d carry my guitar everywhere I went. At the age of 12, I was thrown into playing and singing gospel church beside my two sisters. This shaped me into the musician I am today. Living in a small town where I felt like I didn’t quite fit in, I then moved to LA in 2017 and toured the world with my sisters and work alongside many major Artists.

Associated with soulful yet power pop vocals, pop rock guitar, and production, I’m an established singer-songwriter, guitarist & producer. The last few years, aside from touring, I’ve been producing not just my own music but other indie, R&B, and pop artists. Life’s been a wild ride, and I’m so grateful I get to do what I love every day! Though it really does take a lot of patience and hard work, I get to connect with other people through it

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve all had our struggles… For me, in the past, it was self-doubt. I think we live in a world where everything is moving at such a fast pace, and we’re taking in so much information daily that it can all be so overwhelming. I felt like I was moving at a fast-paced cause of working so much, so I’d constantly push myself to be great at everything, and do so much, but I’d get burned out. My self-doubt came from not feeling enough like I couldn’t ever accomplish all of the things I wanted in my life or ever reach a sense of fulfillment. I now feel like I’ve reached the point of realizing that it’s okay. I’m on my own time, on my own path, and are content with where I am. A huge part of it is enjoying special moments with family and friends. Because of that, I feel so at peace and happier

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’d consider myself an artist, songwriter, producer, touring session player, too. I’ve toured since 15 yrs. old, so you can say that I have a love for people, travel, and music especially. But the last couple of years, I’ve taken the time to stay in one place and make some personal music on my own, which I’ll soon be releasing out into the world. I can’t wait even though I’m super nervous haha.

I’m most proud of all of the things I’ve accomplished so far. I’m very grateful where music has taken me and every single person it’s connected me with. I’ve made some amazing friends and honestly couldn’t have done it without all the love and support from my family and them. I’ll admit I do have a somewhat of a highlighted moment, and that’s that I got to open up for one of my favorite bands, Coldplay. One word. Insane.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success means a lot of things to me. Even when you fail or when setbacks occur, to choose to continue pursuing something is a success of its own. If you then happen to accomplish what you set out to do, that’s another success. Another take on success for me is life for me is about relationships more than anything in the world, so I don’t define success with what I do mostly. It’s about feeling content with everything 🙂 That’s great success
