Today we’d like to introduce you to Demi Lauren.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Demi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
How I got started as a creative was my love and dedication for Art. I’ve been drawing all my life but it wasn’t until my sophomore year in college that I discovered my love for painting. I graduated from Howard University in 2014 with a Bachelors in Graphic Design and Interior Design. I took painting as an elective and enjoyed it so much that it became a real big hobby of mine. A year after graduating college I decided to become an entrepreneur. Thats when I started focusing on my Design company called Demi Lauren Designs offering graphic design, paintings and event planning services.
I got where I am today just by never giving up and being a true hustler. I’m still learning, I’m not even close to where I wanna be but I continue to dream big and work really hard for what I want. I know I have a purpose to get to so that’s what motivates and inspires me to get up every morning to run this marathon.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My biggest struggles along the way have to be self-doubt and self-discipline. As an artist & entrepreneur there’s no one telling you what to do so for a long time I didn’t see any progress or growth. I then started to questioned if I was living in my purpose & if I’m even capable of being my own boss. I felt that I needed to have a certain type of following, I felt that I didn’t know enough about managing a business, I would underpay myself in fear of loosing out on a project and I just became my own worst enemy. After realizing what my issue was I started to pray about it and begin to face all my fears. At the beginning of this year I put on my first art show which turned out to be a super success, doors started opening up and more opportunities came in. I begin to get recognized from local newspapers, the greats, Nipsey Hussle, Mustard, YG, Karen Civil, T.I., The Game just to name a few. So I just learned that you have to be fearless and believe in yourself. You don’t have to have it all figured it out, success is all about trial and error and always remember to have fun with it.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
People who play a big roll in my success is my faith and relationship with God. I give credit to my family and close friends, without the support of them a lot of what I gotten accomplished wouldn’t been possible. I give credit to my good friend Godwin he’s one of the people who really believed in me and help me get the courage to put myself out there. My big brother Rubert manages and guides me through life and business. My Step Father Bruce has helped me build a lot of my projects.
