Today we’d like to introduce you to Margarita Monterde.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Margarita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am 49 years old and I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico the land of Tequila and Mariachi! I spent most of my life in my hometown until I knew my husband 11 years ago by the wonders of the internet, YES I am one of the successful non creepy but very funny love stories from dating sites. So, I packed all my stuff including my dog and start my new life in Los Angeles. I can’t say that the change was easy, totally out of my comfort zone but I always trust in my emotions, so for me IF IT FEELS RIGHT KEEP GOING.

The language was not a problem because I studied English in Mexico, I have also a Bachelor’s degree in Computing Administration, although I worked in Mexico developing administrative computer programs for companies I was not interested to pursuing the same job here, but some years back my husband and I were in a not good financial situation, and I started working wherever they hired me, cleaning house, receptionist, sales, etc. But I always felt the necessity to create, and I always loved kid’s parties, so I start doing handmade centerpieces according to the theme party. I offered to a lot of party supplies stores, one of those clients use to owned a little store that design theme parties for kids, and I felt a click inside of me and fall in love with the concept, finally at my 40 something years I found my passion.

DASHING PARTIES is a Social Event Planning Service that use creativity and the clients vision to design a unique celebration and therefore CREATE MEMORIES WITH LOVE ONES THAT WILL LAST FOREVER. I like to personalize every detail of the décor and I consider the best part of this job when I asked my clients how was the party, and with a smile start telling me everything that happened. That’s the creation of beautiful memories that will be shared for a long time in their lives.

When I started this business adventure I didn’t want to wait until I had a store, I just want to start right away, I was so excited about it, and that’s why I decided to base Dashing Parties at my home and operated from there. I started offering friends for free a decorated kids table, and Dashing Parties started like a word of mouth business. Long story short this year has been good for me, my business is growing in an organic way, and I love what I do, and I think it shows in my creations.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all, although, I can say it is easier when you love what you do. For me learning and searching methods for marketing my business without not much money it’s been challenging. Learning how to be patience and developed resiliency when changes got on my way. And try always to focus on the big vision.

DASHING PARTIES is a Social Event Planning Service. The kind of social event we are talking about are birthdays, sweet 16, quinceañeras, anniversaries, reunions, baby showers, graduations, etc.

I like to personalize every detail of decor, creating a unique and original event, this means creating handmade pieces and developed a close relation with the client. I am proud that I have the opportunity and the ability to be part of people memorable occasions.

For me, creatting a familiar and close relationships with my clients is the best way to make a good impression and that has brought me a lot of recommendations.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Next step is to open a place (store) but meanwhile, this can be a reality I also want to take courses for wedding planner.
