Meet Dan McWilliams of Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan McWilliams.

Hi Dan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was always fascinated with tattoos. From a young age I remember my uncles and grandfather having tattoos. Like a true middle child I spent a lot of time on my own drawing and writing. I played music and did art for fun, eventually I pursued tattooing and became obsessed with the craft. It’s fair to say its consumed my life at this point.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. I had a very tough start and my family never had money or resources to rely on. I’ve worked extremely hard to get to where I’m at. I’ve worked with toxic people and learned that in tattooing you have to rewrite the rules if you see something in desperate need of change. You have to take the good lessons with the bad and grow from the experience.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I would say my style is nerdy realism.

What makes you happy?
Traveling makes me happy. It’s a chance to explore the world and come to your own conclusions. The first time I left the country I realized how little I knew and how much the world and other cultures have to offer. I’ve made some of my best friends on the road.
