Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Lainez.
Hi Cindy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, I had just earned my bachelor’s degree — but honestly, I wasn’t feeling super connected to the direction I was heading in. So I took a leap and enrolled in beauty school! At first, I thought I’d be doing lash extensions, but once we got into skincare, I completely fell in love. I knew right then that helping people feel confident in their skin was what I was meant to do.
I graduated from Newberry School of Beauty and started my business in 2021 — literally in a garage! I was working three jobs at the time, juggling a lot, but I was so driven to make it work. Since then, I’ve continued learning as much as I can — I took advanced courses in acne treatments, learned how to treat multicultural skin (so important!), and even got certified to offer oncology facials.
And fun fact — my boyfriend actually came up with the name Sweet Skin! He’s been such a huge part of my journey and has helped me build the business in so many ways behind the scenes. It’s been such a wild, beautiful ride, and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come. Helping people love their skin is truly the best part of what I do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — it was really hard in the beginning. I figured so much out through trial and error, and I’m still learning every day.
I’m so grateful to the people in the industry who took the time to answer my questions or offer a bit of guidance — that support meant (and still means) the world to me. My first space wasn’t anything fancy, and I didn’t have much money to invest, but I was determined to make it work. I didn’t have a big budget or fancy equipment — just a lot of passion and determination. I also had to learn how to be a business owner while still figuring out my own style and confidence as an esthetician. I truly believed in my vision, and even though it was tough, I knew I was building something special.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Sweet Skin, it’s all about good vibes, glowing skin, and making you feel like your absolute best self. My space is a total safe zone — come as you are, and leave feeling confident, refreshed, and cared for.
I offer relaxing, results-driven facials that feel like a treat and actually get you the results you want. Why choose between a spa day and real skin progress when you can have both? My specialty is acne transformations, and I create completely customized skincare routines tailored to your unique skin. I work with amazing brands like Face Reality and some of the best Korean skincare on the market — it’s truly the best of both worlds!
I also offer Brazilian waxing services, which I know is totally different from facials, but both will leave you walking out the door feeling like a queen. What really sets me apart is the energy I bring — I genuinely care about every single client. From the second you walk in, you’ll be welcomed, heard, and treated with kindness (plus maybe a little hype-up session, because why not?).
And honestly, one of the things I’m most proud of is building Sweet Skin as a small, Latina-owned business — from the garage days to now, it’s been such a labor of love. I’m here to help you glow from the inside out!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important things I’ve learned on this journey is patience and honesty.
In the beginning, I wanted everything to be perfect — the dream studio, the fancy setup, the flawless execution. But I quickly realized that growth takes time, and it’s okay if things don’t look “perfect” right away. I had to work hard for every step forward, and that patience taught me to appreciate the process so much more.
I also learned the power of honesty — especially with clients. If someone asked me a question and I didn’t know the answer, I had to learn that it’s totally okay to say, “You know what? I’m not sure, but I’ll look into it and get back to you.” People appreciate transparency, and it builds trust. You don’t have to know everything to be great at what you do — you just have to care enough to keep learning.
