Meet Chibuike “Meaku” Omeaku of iSLo Records in Inglewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chibuike “Meaku” Omeaku.

Chibuike “Meaku”, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In my earlier years, I grew up singing in the church. My mom was my biggest supporter when it came to me singing, she would always have me do some type of solo in front of the whole congregation. Music wasn’t a direct career choice for me as a child, because of my Nigerian Culture as well as the fact that it seemed almost like a fantasy or imagination in my era when it came to creative arts, but anytime I would find myself feeling beat down from the weight of the world, I would isolate and find myself re-writing lyrics from a song I loved, or writing new music and poetry. After graduating from Banning High School, in Wilmington, California was when I learned music was my calling. The first artist I worked with as a writer, was Grammy Award Winning Singer “LV” (Singer from Gangsters Paradise with Coolio). In that time I decided to attend Sound Master Recording Engineering School to study the art of sound, and soon after graduating I opened my 1st studio in Inglewood, California, where I have had the honor of working with some of the best in the game.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, the struggles I faced along the way came from other people closest to me challenging my vision, trying to discourage certain decisions, but I always focus on staying true to who I am, and who’s I am.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the iSLo Records LLC story. Tell us more about the business.
The name of the company is iSLo (e-low) Records, I am the CEO as well as artist under the label, along with my partner Co-CEO Chinedu Gilliam. We are a global hub for some of the worlds most creative music. We are a fully operational Record Label, where we Produce, Record, Mix, Master, Distribute, and Market music across the globe.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe in preparation, time, and opportunity being in unison. When one is prepared and well equipped for battle, chances are they will conquer, and I have found myself in the most pleasant outcomes due to being prepared, in this business.
