Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea James Kovac.
Hi Chelsea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Southern California and have ridden horses almost my whole life. As far back as I can remember horses have always been the main focus of my life. My journey hasn’t been the easiest, but it’s shaped who I am today. I faced some early challenges that taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of perseverance early on in my life. In 2023, I took a big leap and started my own business. It wasn’t easy, but it was something I believed in, and I’ve poured everything into it. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the success and support I’ve had in the short amount of time I’ve been operating as Stillwater Stables.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were the initial concerns and struggles of starting a business as I’m sure anyone would feel. It all happened very rapidly so I had only a few weeks to secure a facility. I had no equipment, tack, or supplies of my own so I had to figure out how to get everything without any funding going into this. The first few months were stressful but once everything settled into place it’s been smooth sailing since.

Stillwater is a boutique training program in Moorpark, CA. We specialize in hunters, jumpers, and sales. We offer private training to insure every client meets their personal goals, whether they be competition based or not. We prioritize care for our equine partners and work closely with other professionals to ensure all aspects of the horse is kept in top condition. We have our own therapy devices on site to keep our horses feeling their best at all times.
