Meet Brittney Resendiz of Orange County, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Resendiz.

Hi Brittney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my journey in the beauty industry at 16, when I enrolled in an esthetician ROP program during my junior year of high school. Once I completed it, I had to wait until the summer before my senior year for an opening in the cosmetology program. By the time I graduated, I already held both my esthetician and cosmetology licenses.
My mom was a big influence—she always noticed how much I loved doing my makeup. I used to get in trouble during class because I’d be caught sneaking a mirror to fix or touch up my makeup, haha! She decided to enroll me in these programs since they were free for high school students (aside from the kit fee), and that decision gave me an incredible head start.
Once I finished, I knew I wanted to keep going—I’ve always been passionate about continuing education. In 2012, I completed an 11-week professional makeup artistry course at Ruby Makeup Academy with the amazing Brenda Monique as my instructor. I absolutely love in-person, hands-on trainings because they keep me inspired, evolving, and in flow with my artistry.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my biggest challenges has been overcoming self-doubt and imposter syndrome, especially in the age of social media. When I graduated high school in 2010, platforms like YouTube and Instagram were just beginning, and most of my clients came through word of mouth. It felt more organic and personal.
As social media grew, I struggled with the shift—I’ve always considered myself an artist first, not an influencer. At times it felt overwhelming, like I had to put on a performance instead of focusing on my craft. Over time, though, I’ve started to reframe it. I’m learning to find the joy in posting and to see social media not as a stage, but as a way to connect more deeply with my clients.
At the end of the day, my artistry and my clients come first, but I’ve also realized that sharing my work online allows more people to discover me, trust me, and feel inspired—which has become an unexpected but rewarding part of my journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a hair and makeup artist specializing in bridal, runway, and special events. What truly sets me apart is that I don’t just focus on makeup—I create someone’s entire look for their most important moments. I’m especially known for my airbrush artistry. While many artists shy away from airbrush because proper training is rare, I’ve made it my signature. I believe when it’s applied correctly, it creates a flawless, lightweight finish that feels like skin—perfect for brides and high-definition cameras on the runway.
Beyond artistry, my professionalism and background set me apart. I’ve invested years in professional training, earning both my cosmetology and esthetics licenses, which means I bring not just creativity but also technical knowledge in sanitation, anatomy, and chemistry—skills most people don’t realize are vital in this industry. That foundation, paired with years of experience, ensures my clients feel safe, cared for, and absolutely radiant.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built—both with clients and with my creative community. I’ve had the honor of being the personal makeup artist for the owner of Just Be 72, traveling together for runway shows across LA, New York, Paris, Sacramento, and St. Pete’s. Working alongside such fierce, kind, and talented women has been one of the greatest privileges of my career.
At the heart of it, what sets me apart is not only my technical expertise, but also my ability to create a calm, luxurious, and memorable experience—helping each client look and feel like the very best version of themselves.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think luck has defined my career, but I do believe in divine timing. The right people and opportunities have come into my life when I was ready for them. Some might call that luck, but to me it’s about staying prepared, grounded, and open to the opportunities that align with my path.
