Today we’d like to introduce you to Bernadette Rivera.
Hi Bernadette, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am writing to share a bit about my journey and what led me to establish Into-Blooms.
After dedicating 16 years to a biotech company as a cancer research associate, I decided to become a full-time mother to my youngest daughter, who was born on February 2002. Shortly after, I went through a divorce and became her sole provider.
During this period of immense change, I found solace and joy in my lifelong passion for gardening and flowers. Since childhood, I have always loved the process of digging, pruning, weeding, and fertilizing, finding great satisfaction in transforming a garden. This passion also provided me with an abundance of flowers for practicing DIY floral arrangements.
Once my daughter started kindergarten, I felt ready to re-enter the workforce, but I knew I wanted to pursue a path different from the corporate world. I began working part-time in the floral industry and simultaneously studied floral design online. It was the enchantment of blooms throughout my life that ultimately inspired me to become a floral designer specializing in weddings.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The beginning was a struggle due to my lack of marketing experience, and I wasn’t getting noticed. However, as the years passed, I realized that hard work and perseverance in networking and social medias are key to success and happiness. It’s important to never give up on yourself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The love between two individuals is what inspires me, and passing along my love of flowers to them is reflected in the arrangements throughout their wedding. I help couples create special memories by bringing the wedding they’ve always dreamed of to life.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I feel that the essential qualities that are most important to my success are to be patient and kind.
The wedding season is also always ebbing and flowing with parts of the year being busier than others. Waiting for bookings and working with potential clients requires consideration and assiduity. This ensures happy customers, beautiful flowers, and leaves my heart full as a florist.
There are also plenty of other florists to pick from, but having the patience and kindness to work with a couples’ budget, color schemes, and timeline is what sets Into-Blooms apart.
