Meet Badbitchtea

Today we’d like to introduce you to Badbitchtea. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Who do we think we are?! Badbitchtea is a new Los Angeles tea brand founded by Sofia Toufa and Natalie Brede in 2021. With the shared vision of disrupting the existing market with a premium, straightforward product, they designed a full range of holistic blends from organic, ethically sourced botanicals and spices from gardens across Thailand, Eastern China, Hunan, Peru, Quebec, Egypt, and Japan. Rooted in quality, sustainability, wellness, and innovation, Badbitchtea offers a diverse selection of traditional and contemporary flavor profiles, packed with natural antioxidants from organic blends including loose-leaf Green Tea and Jasmine to Masala Chaga Chai, vibrant micro-milled Hibiscus and Hojicha Maca.

Elevating the at-home tea experience, Badbitchtea brewed up a collection of game-changing recipes like the vixen Maple Hojicha Latte the glowup Butterfly Pea Flower Latte — add a squeeze of citrus to change from blue to pink! — the spiked laylow Camomile Hot Toddy and a refreshing high standards Mojito.

As a female-owned and operated label, Badbitchtea celebrates and advocates for women, aiming to empower and inspire through their brand and platforms. At their core, their message is simple: Remember who you are — you’re a bad bitch.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s a constant learning process, looking for opportunities within mistakes and rolling with the punches. Covid handed us lemons and we decided to squeeze them into our signature tea. We’d like to highlight that we source our butterfly pea flowers we use in our “glowup” and “highstandards” signature blends from a sustainable, female-run community in rural Thailand. There is a “magical” component to pea flowers that naturally changes the color of the tea to pink when you add citrus to it. Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We (Sofia Toufa and Natalie Brede) met while touring the world with electronic music producer deadmau5 in 2010. I (Natalie) was in charge of all things merchandise and VIP while Sofia was performing her hit songs “SOFI needs a ladder” and “One Trick Pony” from the GRAMMY-nominated album 4×4=12 on stage with deadmau5.

Natalie has continued to work as Merchandise manager, production coordinator, and VIP Concierge for bands such as KISS and co-founded “Merch Roadie” – an automated retail solutions company built to tour that landed accounts with many notable artists including Beyonce. In recent years Natalie has joined the deadmau5 team again as the Director of Global Retail where she oversees production, social strategy/ campaigns as it relates to retail announcements, brand partnerships, NFT management, pop-up experiences, tour merch production, VIP experiences, and gallery artist collaborations.

Sofia remained active in the performance art and entertainment world. Her voice and songwriting have been featured in movies such as “22 Jump Street”, “The Hangover 2” and can be heard in many notable TV shows. Sofia has choreographed and staged shows for Avril Lavigne, Motley Crue, the acclaimed adult carnival show “Absinthe” and toured with Britney Spears as backup singer.

The message is simple. We want to inspire, empower and encourage you to make yourself the priority. Only the best for the baddest.
