Meet B.D of Studio 4 in Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to B.D.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Like most recording studios started, I started from home recording friends & myself. One day while at the tax office doing my taxes I started talking to this guy name John (Now My Business Partner) & was telling him how I had a home studio & recorded music on a Mbox. He went on to explain how he also had a passion for music & used to have his own home studio & still had all the equipment & always dreamed of opening his own recording commercial recording studio. So we exchanged numbers, got to know each other and decided to open our own recording studio & that’s how Studio 4 aka S4 started!

Has it been a smooth road?
No, very far from a smooth road! The main struggle is finding consistent clients. In this day & age, everybody wants to record from home or wants to use the big studios but want to get the “at home prices”. Also when owning your own recording studio you have lots of equipment you have to maintain.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Studio 4 story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in recording, mixing, and mastering. We are known for mostly hip hop but we do all genres of music. We also have done some spoke word & voice over work for an internet tv show and some recording for a couple books.

I’m most proud of some of the now acts that we’ve been able to book our studio to & being able to engineer for some major artist in the industry.

What sets apart from other recording studios is that we work directly with our clients when it comes to the creative process & business side of things.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
When it comes to commercial recording studios it is really hard to tell right now because how fast things in this industry changes, but whatever the changes are if any when it comes to this business we will adapt to them as fast as humanly possible.
