Meet Alejandra Palma-Galindo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Palma-Galindo.

Alejandra Palma-Galindo

Hi Alejandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My family and I are from Honduras, but we traveled and lived in several Latin American countries. Back in 2012, we immigrated from Mexico to the USA.

I then went to study visual communications at FIDM in downtown LA and soon after that I graduated in 2015. I had multiple jobs throughout the years: Art Director, Graphic Designer, Stylist, Social Media Coordinator and Interior Designer. I have always been drawn and fascinated with the arts ever since I was little, it has always been a way of me to express and explain my emotions without words, purely with art.

Andromeda started as a dream. I had six years ago, when I was working a corporate job that didn’t allow me to use my full creative potential while simultaneously both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer three months apart from each other that situation really made me think a lot about my life, where it was going and what I wanted to do for myself and what I could do to follow my dreams.

At the end of 2018, after my mom’s surgery was finalized, I took a leap of faith, quit my stable and corporate job, and decided to pursue my dream in jewelry making.

in 2019 I decided to book a trip to Mexico, I visited Mexico City to get inspiration and then took a course in jewelry making in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico that lasted 2 months. The idea and plan was to hire Mexican local artisans to make my jewelry, but I launched Androhmeda on February 20, 2020, one month before covid so that plan and idea got paused.

However, it lead me to where I am today. My dad encouraged me to trust my skills and artistry and launch a collection made entirely by myself, which I did with a lot of fear, but it gave me such a big reward, which I still enjoy to this day: creating wearable art for people.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has been more challenging than I envisioned it, but I also believe I have grown and learned so much thanks to my creative pursuit, in many aspects of my life.

Sometimes things get challenging because as an artist you take things to heart, when you share your art you also expose your soul which can be scary, and when people aren’t receptive it does make you feel some type of way, but I am proud I have stayed true to myself and my aesthetic regardless of the critics.

Through ups and downs, I learned how to manage my time, my finances and come up with solutions during difficult times which have shaped me into the woman I am today.

There have been times where I’ve considered quitting, but I look back at everything I have accomplished, and I refuse to do that because I love Androhmeda with all my heart. Before launching Androhmeda, I was going through a very hard time within myself, and I can honestly save that my brand saved my life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Androhmeda is a jewelry brand based in Los Angeles, California. My main focus is creating unique, genderless jewelry pieces. I deeply take pride in my extensive design process, ensuring that each piece is a true embodiment of wearable art and sustainable fashion. Androhmeda is a lifestyle that allows individuals of all ages, genders, and ethnicities to express themselves through fashion. I believe that jewelry is an essential part of daily fashion ritual, and I am honored to be a part of that experience.

I make everything from my heart and my soul. With every piece I make a part of my love goes with it, no design is the same which sets my brand apart.

I am most proud of my innovation, my creative thinking process and how I translate my inner emotions through wearable art.

What were you like growing up?
I had a very difficult childhood due to family matters and always moving to different countries. I felt like I didn’t fit in because I kept going to new schools and starting over, but I always found a way to express myself through: art (painting), dancing, creating my own fashion shows, playing dress up, the arts where always there for me as a way to channel what I couldn’t really express.

I feel like growing up I was a little adult lol, I have always been very independent and self-reliable and liked to do things my own way (hence why I eventually became an entrepreneur lol). I was always a trendsetter, and my dad always told me I was ahead of time, and I believe it to be true!

I was funny, charismatic, friendly, and intelligent but also pensive, analytic, and observant. And I feel like my inner child is quite present in my life, which I am grateful for because the playfulness translates to my designs.

Regardless of my difficult upbringing, my parents always did their best and most importantly they allowed me to be me without any limitations. They always encouraged my crazy ideas, adapted to my new styles, supported my adventurous spirit and also believed in my dreams unconditionally.

Looking at my life I truly believe that everything I went through was supposed to happen in order for me to be the person I am today, and I wouldn’t change anything.
