Meet Albert Gago

Today we’d like to introduce you to Albert Gago.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Initially from San Francisco, after high school, I decided to join the US Army and served for 11 years. I fell in love with photography entirely accidentally. I took a photography class back in high school in early 2000. The camera I used was the disposable Kodak camera that you can buy in the liquor store, Longs Drugs or 7 Eleven. 😂 One day I was walking back home and took random shots. On the next day, I developed the negatives, and one photo stood out from the rest and completely changed my view on photography. It was this lovely big tree with the wind blowing its leaves ever so perfectly.

Please tell us about your art.
Most of my inspiration comes from many well-known photographers. From fashion, beauty, fine art, commercial, and portrait photographers. My work is best described as bold complimentary colors, over the top, edgy, and strong forms. With that in mind, I am big in pre-production. How well I do on my pre-production dictates how well my photo shoot is going to be. I spend a lot of time making sure no details are left behind and that everyone in my crew is on the same page.

As an image maker, I solely believe that my job is to produce contents that are amazing enough that my viewer will take more than two seconds to look at my images or go back and look at it again. When that happens, I feel like I had done my job.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
As a cliche, as it may sound the most significant challenge any artist is facing, is how are freelance artists going to make a living in the industry they have chosen and continue to do on what they love to do.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
