Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Mays.
Hi Adam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started out playing in a band and performing at local clubs. I went to Musicians Institute in Hollywood, went on a nationwide tour, and learned a lot by doing, taking chances, and jumping into the deep end.
Being around the scene, I saw so many talented bands, artists, and friends who had the music, passion, and work ethic, but didn’t always have someone helping with the business side of things. I saw a real need for someone to step in and help with booking, promotion, organization, events, and the bigger-picture strategy behind building a music career.
A lot of what I’ve learned has come from real experience: late nights, sleepless nights, nervous mornings, shows that went great, shows that taught hard lessons, and figuring things out as I went. Those experiences shaped how I work today.
That led me to create Mays Music Management, where I focus on artist development, live events, community-driven shows, and creating opportunities for my artists and my community.
A big part of my story is the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles music scene. My goal is to build events that bring people together, give artists a real platform, and help independent musicians grow in a fair, professional, and supportive way.
I’m still building, still learning, and still growing, but everything I do comes from a real love for music, people, and the belief that independent artists deserve a fair shot.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s where a lot of the growth comes from.
There have been sleepless nights, nervous mornings, financial pressure, last-minute changes, and plenty of lessons learned the hard way.
One of the hardest parts has been managing expectations, both from other people and from myself. In the arts, there’s a lot of passion, and with that comes a lot to carry: delegating to other people, navigating different personalities, balancing different ideas, and trying to balance life and business at the same time.
But remembering the end result for the artists and the audience is what helps me fight through the toughest moments. Seeing these young, powerful bands keep creating, showing up, and believing in what they do reminds me why I do this.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Mays Music Management is built on artist development and entertainment management, with a focus on curated shows and community.
MMM helps artists sharpen their skills, build their brand, and make sense of the road ahead. A lot of artists already know where they want to go. They just need a plan, and we’re here to help build it. We connect the dots, whether that means getting them in front of the right people, finding the right rooms to play, or creating the right opportunities to be seen.
What sets MMM apart is the heart behind it. We don’t just work around an artist, we build an ecosystem around them and amplify and cultivate their creativity. We will help you stay focused and organized and make sure your voice is heard.
I’m proud to work with artists and creatives who care deeply about what they do. If you believe in your work but don’t know exactly how to get it in front of the right people, Mays Music Management is here to help you build it the right way.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important qualities to my success are resilience and passion.
I’ve always considered myself the underdog, so I know what it means to keep going when things get hard. In music, plans change fast. Shows move, people cancel, and not everything goes the way you pictured it. You have to keep your eye on the prize, move when you need to, and stay connected to why you started.
I don’t give up. Passion keeps me excited about the work, and resilience helps me push through the tough parts without losing my sense of self.
For me, success comes from caring deeply, staying consistent, and remembering the bigger vision: helping artists grow and bringing people together through music.
