Today we’d like to introduce you to Tilli.
Hi Tilli, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started singing when I was a little girl by watching all the old black-and-white movies and I always thought the singers were pretty great. I decided that was fine for me… So I would memorize their bits and then go perform them for my mother …which was endlessly wonderful. Later on as a teenager, I had a roommate in New York City who was very much in the music scene so she took me everywhere and introduced me to all kinds of music and rock ‘n’ roll. That was pretty great. I felt the music in my body and moving through me. So I decided to make music and sing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I heard a saying the other day that if the goal is tall then it will cast a long shadow… So there’s been plenty of shadow land to cross ha ha and in so doing I have learned so much about myself and the nature of resilience and why it is best to never give up. The creativity and the music come through me and it’s who I am. So we want to have a valuable life and not give up on ourselves.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer-songwriter creator artiste with a hot band living in Hollywood… I love what I do! When I’m performing and I see people get up and dance or I see that they have been moved it brings me joy, There is an incredible communication and exchange that occurs. Music is alchemy.
Right now, I’m in the writing and recording mode… For me, it’s a process of bringing the invisible forward and getting that language going. And it’s great when you are working with others. It’s like being here and somewhere else at the same time.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
It seems like one of the best ways to bring things about is to set an intention and hold that thought and then go move around in the world… It’s all around us and for networking, one has to be open and willing to meet new people. And ask questions … get yourself in the mix and hold that picture!
