Life & Work with Taja Judkins of Los Ángeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taja Judkins.

Hi Taja, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was little around three years old, my mom told me that I used to be in the backseat, singing my heart out to Usher. During my elementary years, my family watched a lot of American Idol together and I really believe that’s where the idea started. I always watched all the performers and thought to myself, “I would love that to be me one day.” As I grew up, my heart was always set on being in the music industry. I’ve never seen anything else for myself. No matter what I did I knew that music and eventually owning my own farm one day would be where I end up. Fast forward years later I’m still pursuing that dream and I know that this is just what my life is going to be until I die!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road. I actually started being in music videos and extras/background characters on production sets just to get a feel of what it’s like to even be in the industry. I always knew I wanted to be bigger/ the star one day so I made sure I kept that in mind with everything that I pursued. I truly believe that your moral compass is what shapes your decisions and how you maneuver throughout the world. In this industry, I’ve faced a lot of adversity. You really have to know or take time to sit down and learn who you are and what you’re willing to sacrifice or endure to get to where you want to be. Especially being a woman in general in any field there are many struggles. I feel like I’m just now coming into my own and standing my ground on what’s right for me. But growing up, you have no idea. You’re experiencing all of these things at once and then sorting through your feelings about them after. That’s why it’s so important to stay grounded and make sure that you are constantly working on your mental, it’s also a full-time job. But that’s in any career field! Thats just life!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In a nutshell, I’m a vegan singer-songwriter who advocates for animals across the country while making music for a living. My connection to animals started when I was young—my mom always filled our home with them, and she still does to this day. That’s where my love for animals truly began.
As I grew older, I became more aware of how animals are treated and the inhumanity they often face. That awareness turned into purpose. Now, I feel a responsibility to speak up for them—to be a voice for the voiceless.
Music has always been just central to who I am. I’m fascinated by how different frequencies can evoke such powerful emotions, and how music connects people across the world. There’s something timeless about it—something that’s evolved through centuries—and I’ve always felt called to be a part of that. To me, music comes purely from the soul. In a single song, the entire world can just melt away.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Try eating a vegan meal at least once a week!! As simple as cutting out meat or dairy, such as veggies or rice bowls! The critters and the planet will thank you for it!
