Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonu Company.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For most couples, an engagement ring is the first large purchase they’ve invested in but don’t have a lot of knowledge about diamonds or fine jewelry. Many of our friends were getting engaged and didn’t know the first thing about ring shopping. When we started going to big box retailers, little to no information was given about the product itself. That’s when we realized there is a gap in the jewelry industry for education.

As GIA-certified diamond experts, our goal was to offer the best guidance to our couples when deciding diamond options, gold type, and custom ring design. Buying an engagement is more than just a transaction, during our process, we really get to know the couple and their story.

We realized that being a business owner meant much more than designing rings. Since our time in business, we’ve learned the importance of digital marketing, accounting, and having systems in place for our businesses. When Sonu Company launched, our friends and family network were very supportive! Through word-of-mouth referrals and intro’s, we had the pleasure of creating Ryan and Montana’s (@MontanaxRyan) engagement ring early 2021. Since then, we’ve built our brand awareness through customer experience and diamond education. Keep an eye, Sonu Company has big things in store for 2023!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Our entrepreneurial journey has definitely been an adventure. Being your own boss is great but at times overwhelming and difficult. We both wear many hats and are continuously learning that being an entrepreneur is more than just designing jewelry. The importance of a digital presence and organic/paid advertising was our largest learning curve, lots of how-to videos and self-learning. However with every obstacle, it has helped grow us professionally and personally.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sonu Company wants to help every couple design a ring that is unique to them for every budget type. From selecting your main center stone to designing your ring, we offer a fully guided process to help make these decisions. Our mission is to provide a more sustainable and transparent journey for bespoke engagement rings and fine jewelry. Sonu Company specializes in lab-grown diamonds as a responsible choice for our clients. We want our clients to feel sexy and confident knowing their items are being sourced from sustainable backgrounds. What sets us apart is definitely how hands-on the two of us are. As the first step in our process: we take the time to get to know our clients but also educate them on how diamonds are graded and how that affects the cost of the stone, the difference between lab-grown diamonds and mined diamonds, and the list goes on! To ensure you are receiving the best quality, each stone that we recommend is hand selected by one of us.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Starting Sonu Company was honestly our biggest risk yet! To this date, Sonu Co has been entirely bootstrapped by the two of us and that is something we are extremely proud of. When it comes to day-to-day operations, we both talk through everything – pros & cons list, cost analysis, etc. prior to making any decisions. So our risk tolerance varies but we balance each other out.
