Life & Work with Paige Parsons Roache

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Parsons Roache.

Hi Paige, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I moved to LA, I thought I wanted to be an actress. I then became a publicist, event producer and environmentalist, getting involved with any event or happening where I could make an impact. First, it was with Grammy-nominated recording artist Toni Childs’ non-profit Dream A Dolphin, booking celebrities for children’s reading hour in the Dolphin House Cyber Cafe in Venice, CA. Then onto plastic pollution solutions with the Move the World non-profit. Eight years ago, my then 13 years old daughter went vegan “for the animals”. Six months later I watched the impactful film COWPIRACY and realized I needed to go vegan immediately. Once learning the truth behind where our food comes from, the impact on the environment and looking into the eyes of baby pigs on their way to becoming bacon, I transformed into an animal rights activist. Soon after, I became the lead booker and producer for the UnchainedTV global streaming network, which lead me to become the Communications and Acquisitions Director. Currently, I’m producing and co-hosting a cooking show with Sherri Johnson, “Plant Based in the Burbz”, showing people how they can bring more plants on their plates while keeping things simple and fun, which streams on our YouTube channel, as well as on the UnchainedTV global streaming network. Along with this, I am also supporting the Vegans of Los Angeles vegan food bank, the Climate Healers organization, as well as being an educator with Full Circle Compost, teaching our next generation how to create their own soil by taking their food scraps out of the trash to create healthy soil and reducing methane.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a homeschool mom for ten years took me out of the workforce game yet taught me new skills, which I utilized on a daily basis, such as multitasking. Thankfully, I knew that I wanted to help animals to freedom, yet wasn’t sure how to complement my Communications education from UC Santa Barbara. Then came my opportunity! Working alongside Jane Velez-Mitchell, award-winning journalist and former CNN reporter as a producer and booker of a daily cooking show called LunchBreakLIVE, whereby we’d film in the guest’s kitchen. Imagine the challenge in 2020, where all doors were shut and people were sheltering at home! With a quick pivot, we brought the show live via virtual technology daily, for 2 1/2 years, with chefs from around the world. Jane and I also worked together to create a full schedule of content that streamed directly from our anchor’s homes. But these shows were not without technical glitches due to weather, wifi struggles or the like. At the same time, between guests canceling due to illness, family emergencies and literally picking up their lives and moving across the country, I was constantly scrambling to create a professional show. Meanwhile, Facebook, which was our platform at the time, was going through a major upheaval, and when we’d normally have 15K views per show on average, we were witnessing a huge decline (along with so many other content creators) to nearly half the views, which put a tremendous pressure on us.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
People know me from carrying around a basket of sustainable solutions, such as bamboo utensils, metal straws and cloth napkins to promote less plastics on the planet. I may have even shamed you if I caught you sipping out of a plastic straw. Due to my commitment to a healthy planet, I provide real solutions. Meanwhile, I specialize in connecting people who have similar interests and commitments to support the furthering of their projects’ success. I also produce various events and promote them. For the past five years, I’ve supported the Climate Healers organization, lead by systems analyst Dr. Sailesh Rao, in producing a virtual quarterly convergence of the people for a vegan world by 2026. I’ve booked approximately thirty guest speakers, delivered multiple presentations, led interviews and panels, as well as presented cooking shows. With the Vegans of Los Angeles vegan food bank, I supported the launch media campaign in May 2022 and am on the Board of Directors. In addition, I Associated Produced the New Day New Chef show on Amazon Prime, which won 2 Taste Awards (the Oscars of cooking shows), as well as supported the launch of the UnchainedTV global streaming network, and APP, in Nov 2021, and the upgrade launch in June 2022. I’m committed to keeping it real and fun while making an impact with justice for all beings.
