Life & Work with MyShala’e Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to MyShala’e Jackson.

Hi MyShala’e, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is MyShala’e, and I am a self-taught balloon artist from Los Angeles, California! I fell into this amazing business by accident. My big sister’s balloon artist canceled on her, and I have a very “I can do anything” attitude. So, I asked her what she wanted, went to the 99cent store to grab supplies to try it out, and sent her a photo! That was when I fell in love with balloon artistry. I started my business during a pandemic in 2020. Since then, I just reminded myself to be the Coca-Cola during the Great Depression! Looking forward to making more events, no matter how intimate or extravagant they will be, POP! 🎈✨

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I must say the road for this business has been painted in gold with pink glitter with a few speed bumps. Gratefully, I have been booked every single weekend since 2021. The struggles in this business are finding additions to the team and being consistent with posting on social media. As you can imagine, working a ton will have you exhausted, especially when you put your all into your project. Sleep has turned into many 15-minute power naps! I have to catch them when I can. Sacrificing personal time with loved ones are also a challenge, however, I am blessed they know that my love is authentic and true.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Aside from having a “poppin’ balloon business, I am a client experience representative for a beautiful company! I make sure our clients feel supported when they have concerns about their purchases. I thoroughly enjoy shifting moods from upset to joyful by providing a top-tier experience whether it be through email or phone call. What sets me apart is the ability to separate “my stuff” from work as no one deserves negativity in any way. At the end, we all win! It’s okay to have a 9-5 and still make your dreams in the entrepreneurial realm come true✨

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
Risk-taking is a MUST!!! I strongly believe that failure is the best lesson because you can learn so much from it. Most of the time, the word “risk” scares a lot of people. For me, it fuels my brain. No one remembers the risk but always the reward. Take more risks to gain more rewards!
