Life & Work with Moore Kismet of North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moore Kismet

Hi Moore, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started creating music when I was 7 years old after getting my first laptop at 5. I did it just for fun at first, but over time, I grew to be more inspired by it and it grew into a passion. When it really catapulted for me was while I was in middle school. I had been studying in my computer science class and I went on YouTube to find some cool music to listen to. From there, I learned about artists like Audien, Above & Beyond, Virtual Riot, Skrillex and more, and immediately became enthralled by the sonic palettes they developed for their work. It made me want to try my hand at creating similar things on my own.

I first debuted the project with a (now very outdated) remix of “Crazy Love” by Audien back in 2016. After that, I put out a mixtape called “TRIALS” in 2017, which at the time was my first genuine exploration into creating what I wanted to create. That mixtape’s release and my attempted promotion of it was how I met my current manager and began working with him. From there, I put out an unofficial remix of a song called “404” by Hekler & Gladez. It garnered a lot of attention and it led to me getting some original releases on the label it came out on, Never Say Die. NSD was an incredibly popular and well-respected British electronic label that a lot of now incredibly popular dubstep artists broke out on. And I got to be a small part of that.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. From the beginning, my age was a massive issue. A lot of people either did not take me seriously and didn’t believe I was making the things I was making, or they did, but due to age limits in venues posing possible liabilities in having me at shows, they didn’t want to book me and risk me getting hurt.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a music producer, DJ, songwriter, visual artist, filmmaker and actor! I’m largely known for my earlier releases on Never Say Die or my debut album “UNIVERSE” and the accompanying singles! What I’m most proud of to this day still is getting to perform at some of the best festivals in the world when I was incredibly young. I would also say my youth is in part what sets me apart from others.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has played a very tumultuous role in my life and career because I never really know what to expect and I have no choice but to just roll with the punches, no matter how hard they are.
