Today we’d like to introduce you to Marshall Shakro.
Hi Marshall, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been helping produce events for over 10 years, but it wasn’t until the pandemic I realized I needed to start hosting my own events. I am very passionate about music and fitness & health. So I combined the two down in Santa Monica. A friend and I began making concrete dumbbells and hosting workout events on the beach with live DJs.
Our company is called Homebells. As I continued to host beach workouts and get others outside to take care of their physical health; I thought of another concept to do at night since restaurants and bars were closed. I teamed up with Meet Us productions and we started hosting a music showcase for artists on Dockweiler beach, to give musicians more of a platform that allowed them to perform and keep practicing their craft.
I have a passion to encourage others and showcase their talents. Many people don’t have an opportunity to show off their gifts, so we were able to provide that for them.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, this journey wasn’t the hardest but it also wasn’t the easiest. When we had the vision, we just picked up running. There wasn’t any hesitation at all. I mean we were in a time where nothing was guaranteed anyway, so we had a mindset of “What is there to lose?” So we went for it.
As it began to grow and word spread around, the workouts became more community base and we started to develop long-lasting relationships with everyone in attendance. Not only did our community grow but everyone started to see change within themselves; health-wise and physically.
When our community grew and we stayed consistent, we started to reach out to brands and began receiving sponsorship, which included products & supplements for our community. Eventually led to Body Armour reaching out to us and helping us with our exposure.
Built more trust for everyone, and it should people what we were really doing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work consists of bringing people together through music, dance, fitness & health; it always has been and always will. I am passionate about community building and helping others network, as well as encouraging others to seek discomfort and break out of their shells. Something I had always struggled with. Now, I am a leader, and my goal is to build up other leaders my age and anyone from the generation beneath me.
I also specialize in marketing and staying creative with how I market myself and the brands I work with. I have always surrounded myself with business owners, and older people, so I can learn from them and pick their brains full of knowledge. You can never learn too much, my goal is to establish a brand that helps others reach their full potential within themselves and break free from any little barriers they are scared to break down.
I want to help others expand and understand they are capable of accomplishing anything they set their minds to. A verse I live by and that has spoken to me is, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” This is what I have always lived by and will continue to. What sets me apart from others, is my honesty and integrity, my willingness to put others first before myself, and the passion/drive I have to make an impact on those around me.
I care more about relationship building rather than the business aspect of things. I care more about the heart of others and I want to resemble the love Christ has shown me to others and that’s establishing and helping the people around me blossom and flourish. It means a lot to me, to see others succeed and meet their full potential.
I am different because I want to be remembered as “the helper”, a “servant to others”, rather than just focusing on where someone else can take me. In life anyone, I work with or mentor, I have the mindset of, “we grow together as a team”.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would say my willingness to stay consistence & persistent, makes me more valuable. My willingness to learn and develop myself to the next level daily makes me stand out.
Me being such a creative and never settling on one particular career path helps me understand and value life more too. I never wanted to sit in a store or behind a desk to make my income. I want to be able to float around and discover new things daily and be able to work in new environments every day, helping me become successful.
Also, I would say money doesn’t determine my success; having strong personal relationships with people does, and having wisdom & knowledge does it for me.
