Life & Work with Marion Gruber of Mar Vista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marion Gruber

Hi Marion, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started working as a fashion editor trainee at ELLE Magazine in Paris 15 years ago. I launched a fashion blog, and slowly started to create content for myself, before instagram and TikTok.
After a few years, I decided to go full time on this side project and become a full time content creator. I launched a brand, learned a lot. Then my family and I followed a long time dream and we all moved to Los Angeles. There, I started to create content for others, and in particular for the French brand Sézane. I loved this new challenge and to be part of seeing the brand growing in the US, so when the team asked me to join them full time, I did not hesitate. I’m now creating all the content for the brand in the US.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! Moving from France to the US was already a big adventure but deciding to go from a 10 years freelancer career to back to a 9-5 position was also a big step for me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m specialized in fashion and lifestyle content creation. I’m a creative, photographer and videographer, but mostly a woman in love with technical fashion, threads and fabrics, so I live to play around with clothes and ideas.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think believing in myself enough to pursue my dreams always helped me get there. So I would say starting a fashion blog and build myself a name, a career around it is my lucky one.
