Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Gladney
Hi Marcus, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved here from Kansas City with my then Partner, after a breakup 6 months later she moved away and I stayed in LA in search of my Tribe the Only part of Los Angeles that resonated with me at that point in time was Venice Beach.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a smooth yet rocky road. When you create any event or organization/business you deal with alot of different personalities. The more successful your entity becomes the more you have to deal with unbecoming personalities. But to continue to be blessed and successful you have to embrace everyone and do your best to still love them unconditionally and know that everyone deals with some sort of trauma and as leadership you do your best welcome everyone with open arms.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m the Creator and Ride Leader of the World-Famous Venice Electric Light Parade a non profit family friendly LED Bicycle event in Venice Beach California that happens weekly since 2015. I’m most proud of the participants who bring their children and Parents out to Ride with my crew and I. The difference between Myself and the Venice Electric Light Parade is we Parade weekly whereas other Community bike rides happen once a month. In order to show up and host a bike ride weekly since 2015 requires ALOT of dedication because it’s Work!!!
What matters most to you?
The Venice Electric Light Parade is a Sober kid friendly event and what matters to me the most is that people show up expect to have a good time within the 2 hours with Great vibes and Great music that creates special memories for our little humans. They are tomorrows leaders and after we are long gone they will yell the stories to their children and grandchildren of how when they were young they would go on these Carnival like bicycle rides in Venice California that had music, dancing and colorful lights that was Magical!
