Hi LYRICALMAR, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is LYRICALMAR. I am an innovative and genre-bending artist whose voice and point of view musically is untapped. Since 15yo, my attention to production and lyrics was distinctive, and my records range from Rap, to Pop, and even Dance. The topics I have covered range from fierce self confidence, overcoming bullying, to black economic wealth. Since I started music professionally in 2020, my efforts in music have earned me features with AT&T’s “Turn Up The Love” Pride campaign, and I also won a PopSmashRadio Award for ‘Top Song with a Message’ for my record “Black Money” in 2021. My strong ties and voice through my music for the LGBTQIA community had been previously supported by GLAAD’s Communities of Color. In May 2025, I released MARCHIVES, my latest EP, and POWDER BLUE is my most recent single.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been smooth and rocky. Dealing with the realities of not receiving support from family and friends is probably the biggest challenge. I’ve learned to make music for myself, and hope others enjoy it as much as I do. As a queer artist, I certainly notice there are less bookings for us, and Hip Hop seems to be heterosexual centered. I’m here to bust the door open and continue what artists like Big Freedia and Lil Nas X has started.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Rap Artist, but I love Pop and Dance music. I’d say I specialize in conceptual records and unique point of views through my songs and music videos. Check them out!!
