Life & Work with LaTanya Keyes of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTanya Keyes.

Hi LaTanya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my journey along with my husband in the world of interior design by staging homes for Real Estate Agents in Laguna Niguel and Newport Beach California about 26 years ago. Potential clients who saw my designs then wanted me to design their personal homes which started a domino effect of amazing clients over the years who have now become lifelong friends. One of my private clients from church asked me to design a few Airbnb units. This amazing opportunity opened up a pandoras box of the incredible world of Hospitality design. For the last 13 years I have pretty much strictly been designing Airbnb, short term rentals, boutique hotels and corporate long term rental units for my clients all over the country. The designs that my team and I have created have expanded all over the United States, Europe, Canada and into multiple Hawaii islands. We have created a unique turnaround system from vacant to fully designed and decorated units which takes the hard work away from the client and allows them to focus on building their business instead of working and setting up the units. My clients love it for the simple fact that they do not have to do the heavy lifting.
This is what set us apart from any other STR or hospitality design company in the market. We offer our clients a stress free experience every time with over 8,500 units, homes and hotel projects designed in North America and International markets.

We are the Short Term Rental Design Experts with amazing designers on our team who embody what it means to design from the heart. Professional design, quality, and detail are what you can expect from our amazing team. We want to serve our clients expeditiously and generously giving them the freedom they deserve to know that we will take care of everything. We love helping new and existing clients obtain the look that will gain them booked units that will catch the eye of any guest. Confidence in your vision is our top priority. This is my story and I love everything design and always have.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. It has been a rewarding road though. My mom passed a few years ago and was on a long road of decline so trying to run an international design firm while your mother is declining in her health was super challenging and emotional. I have an incredible team that really took the ball and ran with things and this is why in any business you have to have a staff that you can trust and that can stand in for you and continue on what you would envision so the company can still thrive. Its a blessing, I have cultivated that through the years and vetted an incredible team that is like no other. Thank God for them!!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize as well in Restoration of homes, building ADU’s and Airbnb/Hospitality design. I absolutely love taking a blank canvas and making a design that is beyond what my clients would ever dream of. I also decorate as if I am staying there myself, because my personal standards are super high. I want to bring that same quality of design and creativity to my clients. What I’m most proud is being a women minority business owner for the last 26 years. My team and I have superseding anything I could ever ask or imagine as well as the amount of success that my business has received is overwhelming. What sets me apart from any other designer is that I do not take over when I’m designing my clients personal home, I work with them to create a space that they feel they had a hand in designing along side with me. I am not going to live in their house, so its really important as a designer I feel to guide my clients along instead of taking over.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important thing I’ve learned in my journey is to not give up. Keep doing what you love. When you love something its not work. Also when things go wrong with a project or you make a mistake, don’t kick yourself to hard. Learn from it and keep it pushing!!! Also to always keep learning new things and ways to help your clients. Keep up with trends and designs so that you can be knowledgeable.
