Life & Work with Kiana Daigneault of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiana Daigneault.

Hi Kiana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started martial arts when I was six years old and it quickly became more than just a sport for me. Over the years I earned 5 black belts, became a 2x World Champion, and competed internationally while also teaching and performing. As I got older, I realized I loved not only the athletic side of martial arts, but also the storytelling and cinematic side of it.

That led me into content creation, acting, stunt performance, and modeling. I started building my own audience online by combining martial arts with entertainment, action choreography, fitness, and lifestyle content. Over time, my platforms grew to over a million followers combined, which opened doors for brand work, collaborations, and opportunities in the entertainment industry.

Now my main focus is continuing to grow as an actress and action performer while creating projects that inspire people, especially women, to feel strong, confident, and capable.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. A lot of people only see the highlights online, but there’s been a lot of sacrifice, pressure, and setbacks behind the scenes. I’ve dealt with injuries, burnout, financial stress, balancing multiple careers at once, and constantly having to prove myself in industries that are both extremely competitive.

I also had to learn how to build opportunities for myself instead of waiting for them. Social media, acting, martial arts, and entertainment all evolve so fast, so I’ve had to adapt constantly while staying true to who I am. But honestly, those struggles helped shape my work ethic and made me more resilient.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
One thing I’m most proud of is never giving up, even during moments where I genuinely felt like there was no way I was going to make it through something. Martial arts taught me resilience very early on.

A moment that really shaped me was competing at the Okinawa World Championship in Japan in 2018. I was only 16 years old, it was my first time ever flying to another country, and I had just two and a half months to prepare three completely new, extremely advanced katas that I had never performed before, while also training relentlessly for Nationals leading up to the World Championship. At the time, it honestly felt impossible.

Somehow, I fought my way into the finals against some of the best competitors in the world. One Sensei actually walked up to my instructor and said, word for word, ‘Your student must be really good, no American should be in the finals.’ That moment stuck with me forever.

I ended up losing the final match and taking second place, but I was the only American to place and bring home a silver medal for Team USA. That experience taught me that even when the odds are against you, you still show up fully, give everything you have, and represent yourself and the people around you with courage, heart, and determination.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is growth, purpose, and the impact I leave on other people. I’ve dedicated almost 20 years of my life to martial arts, and one of the biggest things it taught me is that discipline, resilience, and character matter far beyond just winning medals or gaining recognition.

I care a lot about inspiring people, especially women, to feel strong, capable, and confident in themselves. Whether it’s through martial arts, acting, content creation, or simply sharing my journey, I want people to see that you can overcome obstacles, create your own opportunities, and become more than what others expect of you.

I also value authenticity very deeply. In today’s world it’s easy to get caught up in comparison or trying to fit into trends, but I think staying true to who you are and what you stand for is one of the most important things you can do.
