Life & Work with Kerrington Dillon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerrington Dillon.

Hi Kerrington, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Since I was nine years old, I have always loved the entertainment industry. When I was 10, I had my first cameo in the Teach Me How To Dougie music video. Throughout middle school, I’d always perform and host things at whatever chance I could get. As I got older, I decided to shift gears and be more involved with the behind-the-scenes aspect of it all. So’d A&R assist with publicity, wardrobe, social media, and more? Fast forward to 2020, my senior year of high school, and the start of the Coronavirus Pandemic… I decided to take a different route. One day I created a new Instagram, and I would begin interviewing anyone I had access to. Rather that music artists, entrepreneurs, actors anybody. My mission is to highlight the behind-the-scenes men and women who help create some of the biggest talents ever seen. Since 2020 I have interviewed over 40 plus entrepreneurs and gained two prestigious internships.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not always been smooth. Going through my first two years of college online while trying to build an audience was very challenging. There was a point in time I wanted to completely throw in the towel, I felt as if I wasn’t good enough or nobody would want to hear what I have to say. So for a while, I stopped interviewing, then I realized that I don’t have to be perfect and that my authenticity and drive are all I needed to continue. Sometimes I still get those feelings, but I am understanding that God put me on this earth for a reason, and my voice matters.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So I am currently an entertainment and music journalist. I specialize in interviewing upcoming and unique entrepreneurs and artists. I would say I am known for making people feel comfortable and warm, I’ve been told by some of my past interviews that they felt really comfortable with me. I pride myself on making every interview feel like a regular conversation amongst friends. With so much pain in the world, when people come on my show I want them to feel a little sense of peace. I feel what sets me apart from others is I am genuinely a connoisseur of the arts. I love to hear about the good, bad, and ugly of one’s journey as an artist. I feel as though I was meant to be an entertainment industry professional, even since a child, I’ve never been interested in any other industry. If all the popularity of being an internet sensation died out today, I would still be on this journey.

What does success mean to you?
So I am a spiritual person, and I believe that success is found in the soul. When your soul and heart are happy then you are succeeding. Often as people, we do things to satisfy society or temporary feelings, and that is why a lot of people are unhappy. In my opinion to see true success you have to look in the mirror and see what is your purpose; you know why did God place you on this earth. Once that is figured out the journey becomes enjoyable even the heart breaks. All in all when all is said and done I just want the lord to be able to say “Job Well Done My Child.” I feel to get to that point we all have to find what makes us happy, even failure can’t stop you, and that’s where the success story comes from.
