Life & Work with Jennea Shaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennea Shaw.

Hi Jennea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always had people around me who I loved and cared about and who had all the ideas of my career path and what I should be pursuing. Deep down, I knew what I was doing wasn’t making me happy but because someone I love so dearly believed in me so much, that kept me going. Even though, down the line I felt unsettled I’ll never regret going to nursing school because it enhanced the person I already am in so many ways. I can now say at 25 years of age I am truly happy with everything I am doing. I always knew where I wanted to be everything about me screams creative but I tend to overthink and discourage myself like some of us all may do. I am an embodiment of infinite possibilities and whatever I put my mind to I get it done. I’m very blessed and grateful to show every woman and young child any shape or size that you can do it, you belong in every space you desire, and never give up because you’re powerful.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everyone has challenges, obviously but my biggest obstacle still to this day is really wrapping my mind around my grandmother not being here anymore. She was truly my ride or die and you couldn’t tell her anything about her NENE! I know she’s always with me and I know she’s proud because I feel her all the time.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Freestyler/Dancer/Singer(Carneliana)/Songwriter and probably so much more that I just haven’t tapped into yet. I’m most proud of me as an independent artist. Putting out my music has been like pulling teeth because it’s truly a therapy session for me. So, when you listen to my music just know the hearts completely in it. What sets me apart is I’m truly just me. I don’t desire to be like the next I just wish to inspire and give my good energy to the world.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck but I do believe in Blessings and the favor of God! Amen.
