Today we’d like to introduce you to Dupé Aleru.

Hi Dupé, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I think of my story, the adversities, breakthroughs, setbacks, and triumphs, I am thankful for them all. They all have helped shape me into the vibrant, self-aware, out-going, and courageous person I am today.

However, I cannot mention my entrepreneurial journey without stating how I got there. When I graduated college in 2003 with my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, I had no idea I would embark on an entrepreneurial path a few short years later.

In 2006, after receiving my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, I landed my dream job as an elementary school teacher, one of the most joyous and fulfilling jobs I have ever had. However, due to budget cuts, my exuberance for teaching would soon turn into despair after receiving a layoff notice at the end of my first academic school year. This layoff pattern repeated itself for the next three years until finally, I decided to leave classroom teaching altogether.

There is something remarkable about synchronicities and coincidences, especially when you don’t recognize them at the moment but rather years later. In my last year teaching in 2010, my students’ parents suggested that I tutor their children over the summer. They thought it would be a great idea to tutor students to avoid yet another period of being an unemployed teacher due to state-wide budget cuts. Though I had invested so much time and energy into teaching, I knew that I had to find a different way to make an impact. I accepted their offer to tutor their children, and within a few short months, my company, Tutors for Tots, was born.

By this time, I had added a new degree and credential: a Master of Science in Educational Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. My brick-and-mortar K-12 tutoring company thrived for nine years. We partnered and developed curriculums for school districts and government agencies, provided in-class and in-home tutoring services, and administered professional development training for teachers. We received an Exemplary Educational Partner Award for our SCALE High Program from Long Beach Unified School District, yet I did not feel fulfilled. My intuition pointed me in another direction, motivational speaking and content creation, so I took another leap of faith into the unknown, trusting God and His plan along the way, leading me to where I am today.

I am an award-winning motivational speaker, six-time published author, life coach, digital influencer, and producer of the hit video series Daily Dose with Dupé. I am also the founder and owner of Davi Creative LLC – a digital coaching agency that strives to help people from all walks of life find their voice and realize their full potential. My love for education is evident in my work. From classroom teaching to educating on a mass scale, I utilize my gift of teaching through my motivational videos, books, coaching services, products, and speaking engagements.

Throughout my sixteen years as an educator, creator, motivator, and entrepreneur, I have never lost my passion for helping people from all walks of life identify and realize their true dreams. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you started from; if you can embrace your natural gifts and commit to your life purpose, you can create opportunity.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been struggles along the way; however, that is normal in entrepreneurship. I do have to say, besides the normal loss of employees, interns, business deals, and hearing the word no more times than you ever expected to hear in your lifetime, my greatest struggle came from personal health challenges.

In 2008 after my second year teaching, I had to invest much of my emotional and physical energy to care for myself due to a medical condition that could have taken my life had I not been gifted an emergency surgery after months of suffering. This particular medical issue showed up again ten years later in 2017, and by the grace of God, I survived another emergency surgery.

If I had not experienced that level of pain and discomfort, I would not be the powerful woman I am today. My experiences challenged me to fight through something trying to hold me back from fulfilling my purpose. That challenge to overcome my adversity saved my life because, in turn, I had to become mentally stronger and resilient in the process.

I am a motivational speaker, and I speak to audiences worldwide about turning their biggest problems into their greatest gifts and using them to serve others.

My specializations are public speaking, life-purpose coaching, and video creation. As the founder and owner of Davi Creative LLC, I help businesswomen learn how to package their knowledge, experience, and expertise into engaging and compelling video content designed to attract their ideal customers, grow their audience and brand, and turn their passion into profits, all in the service of others.

I am most proud of my unwavering ability to conquer adversity while maintaining my true passion for helping others. I am also proud of the incredible online community I have had the pleasure of building from the inception of my entrepreneurial journey.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson that I have learned along my journey comes from one of my favorite quotes of all time. “Adversity has the effect of drawing out strength and qualities of a man that would have lain dormant in its absence.” – Herodotus.

I have learned to embrace adversity to create massive positive change in my life.
